I need advice as to how I should approach Elliot's smash cake photos. We're having them done next weekend, the 19th. I want him naked, except for a cloth diaper, in the photo. But I'm concerned about the icing. He will probably wear a fuzzibunz because we have a million of them, and my favorite color on him is one of those. Should I be worried that the icing might stain? What about effecting the PUL? What else should I think about as we go into this?

Re: Smash Cake Advice?
I didn't have any problems with my Thirsties cover.
Just watch out for the diapers after. My daughters stomach was not ready for the sugar over load.
I also went with white frosting with purple accents.
You'll want to hose him off after.

Stay away from red cake/icing and brown cake/icing.
And it should wash out fine
Really? I know this board is all about cloth diaper love but those pictures will be so cute and the process will be such a fun memory that you won't care if you ruin a diaper. And that's coming from garage sale shopping, cheapskate mom! Pick your favorite diaper and let it get destroyed if you want colored frosting. Won't you smile every time you see those stains?
I want to do white cake and wild colored frosting, maybe blue or hot pink but I'm going with a black diaper and a black bow tie that velcros around the neck, no shirt. I assume the diaper will survive but planning to sacrifice the cute bow tie if necessary.
I just did DS's cake smash today. His party theme is Finding Nemo so I had light blue icing and he wore a blue BG 4.0 diaper. The icing wiped right off, I used Wilton's white icing with Wilton's sky blue food dye. Here are a few images:

I say just be careful with your color selection (obviously no white diapers or anything!), and if you do notice something on it, oxyclean is amazing stuff!
That's what I was thinking about doing too! Don't overmix your batter. Last time I did a multi dyed cake... Camouflage... I over mixed and it got a little gummy.
