April 2014 Moms

4am WIDE awake!!!

Ok LO is in full sleep regression mode.... Is waking early part of it? For the last week he wakes at 4am all happy and content, eyes wide open like he is ready for the day. I feed and he is still wide awake. I end up rocking him back to sleep which takes 10 min or so after the half hr of feeding. I am not a fan!!! Hoping this gets better soon!

Re: 4am WIDE awake!!!

  • We had party time from 11pm to 1:15am last night. I finally just walked away from her. I feel ya! We're almost at the 2 month mark for this shiz... she started skipping her long morning nap in late June and it all went downhill from there.

  • Dd has woken around 4 am the last 3 days and seems wide awake. She's not hungry though, so I give her back her paci, wrap her up, and go back to bed. I repeat that as many times as I need to till she goes to sleep on her own (I don't let her cry). Last night it took 30 minutes as getting up 4 times.

  • Up at 5:30 this morning... and he's already not a fab sleeper (up every couple-few hours to eat)... :/
  • I have seen a few people post about this here and on the Wonder Weeks April 2014 FB group I belong to. My DD has done this a few times as well, usually when she has just learned something new. It should be temporary. Just do what you're doing - encourage your LO to go back to sleep.

  • Yes, hang in there. DS did this for a couple weeks (!!!). 4:30 was his wake up time every single day. DH and I got into a routine.. I would wake and feed him, then hand him off to DH around 5 or 5:30 and then he would watch him until about 6:30 when I had to get up and start getting ready for work. DS would go back down for a nap around 6:30 or 7. But don't worry.. It passed! Now he gets up to eat around 3 and goes back to sleep until around 6:30am when he gets up for the day.

  • Same boat here. It sucks. DS has been doing this daily for 2 weeks. The latest we have gotten for a wake up time is 453.
  • DD does that. I just let her play in her crib and she usually passes out by herself. I don't stress in trying to make her go back to sleep if she's wide awake (only if she's crying).

  • My lo has done the same thing for 2 days now. Both mornings he's been genuinely hungry tho and feeds and is back to sleep. But, I consistently find him stuck on his tummy so perhaps the learning something new is really what is happening?! I wish he'd learn the new trick of rolling onto his back! And soon!!!!
  • Same here but she's up at 2am. I just put her back in her pack and play and she hangs out kicking and staring at her hands. She doesn't cry do I just go back to sleep.

  • We haven't slept for more than 2 hours straight in this house in 4 weeks. Used to sleep about 8 sometimes up to 11 hours straight then one day something snapped. LO cries herself to sleep about 3 times a night now simply because I no longer know what to do.
  • We are up between 3-4 also.  It started last wk when we stopped swaddling.  He isn't hungry.  He wakes up just talking and playing in his crib.  I can't leave him though bc he eventually starts to cry bc he's alone.   Rocking him back takes SO long bc he's just awake staring at me.  Ugh!  Then he is exhausted and crabby when its time to actually get up and eat.  I'm hoping it passes, although when he was a NB between 3-4 was his time to get up.  Its like its ingrained in his brain to be awake at that time!!!

  • DH gets up for work at 4am 4 days a week. and baby girl thinks that its time for her to get up too. She often times gets up for the day at four... so not fun!
