emotional friend day, any advice?

I am not sure how to title this but, I am having an emotional day regarding my friendships. It has been harder to hold on to friends as I have gotten older. All of my college friends who I was close with and who have had kids still work. I feel like we have grown apart and it just makes me really sad.

I have other "mom" friends but, haven't really made them apart of my social group outside of the kids.

I don't really have a point to this post, I guess, just wondered if anyone else has death with this. Maybe it is time to start making new friends.

Yes, I have. A lot of my old friends are still single/dating/going out every night. I am not particularly young but its just the stage they are in still I guess. So now that I have DS it makes it harder to get together and we also have less and less to talk about. I am a teacher so I made a ton of friends who are a similar place in life there. Our kids love playing together but when I was on maternity leave for a year, it was so hard to get together with them. Now that I am going back only part time I think it will be a nice balance.

I also recently moved into a new neighborhood and for the first time ever, actually put in some effort getting to know the neighbors. I met two really nice people and we've been getting together every once in a while.

The gym and other mommy classes are good but I know it takes a while to really break out of the "mom friend" and actually hand out without the kids. The older you get the harder it is for sure!

Hang in there, you might meet some new friends or your friends lives (or your own) might change and your connection will deepen.
