Restoring supply after mastitis

I have EP for my 3mo old son from the beginning. Always had plenty to feed for the day and a little left over to make a freezer bag every day or two....until two weeks ago. I developed mastitis and it took two different rounds of antibiotics to clear it up. I never stopped pumping during the flare up, but as the days passed my output steadily declined. I'm now down to my last 12 freezer bags (individual serving sized) and am having to use at least one each day. At the worst I was using 5 freezer bags a day, so it's gotten better but I'm stuck in this limbo now where I'm just shy of where I need to be. Obviously if I don't get things going again I'm going to need to start supplementing. Hoping to get some suggestions on what to do.

My daily routine... I pump 7x including one MOTN for 20-30min each time. I rented a hospital grade pump. I'm drinking lots of water. I'm using warm compress during pumping to help letdown.

Is it possible to recover from this?

TIA

Re: Restoring supply after mastitis

  • Go to 8 or 9 pumps a day for a while, that should help. Once your supply is where you want it to be you can drop a pumping session or two.
