Intro and advice

I am introducing myself now because I will be joing the two under two on Thursday August 7th. I have an almost 13 month old and will be having a scheduled c section next thursday, unless I go into labor early. I know this board will be valuable to me and I am also involved in the July 2013 board. I am just wondering what everyone's best piece of advice is with transitioning to having two kids so close together. I look forward to learning a lot! Thank you!

    Mine aren't quite as close as yours and my latest helpful hits are more for having three since my oldest two are closer to 2 years apart vs yours being just over a year... but just wanted to Congratulate you!

    Mine are 19.5 mos apart so not quite the same.  But the best thing I can say is lower your expectations and give yourself a break.  There will be times when it will be absolute shit where one baby is crying or both but know that you aren't a bad mom or failing.  Accept help (especially for the older one who will need the extra attention from family).  

    It will be tough but will get better before you know it and they will be able to play together and have so much fun.  Congrats!

    Just think, your days of getting slower while your baby gets faster are almost over! My advice is to ask for and accept help the first several weeks. Buy it if necessary. If you can get enough help early on you will heal faster and have more energy for later. That said, we didn't get much of any help and we lived to tell the tale! I did encourage relatives to take pictures of the kids every time they visited, which was great because I wasn't very good about taking pics during most of DD first year. I remember telling my mom early on that having kids 14 months a part is a LOT, of both the good things and the hard things! Get ready for cuteness overload!
