Need help picking out curtains

We are slowly but surely redoing my my boys' room and I am stuck on curtains. We also need curtains for our room which also includes the baby's nook. I such at picking out curtains so bad and would love some help. I've included pictures of each. We have a dark brown comforter with a dark red and hunter green pillows and pretty much all our decor in our room follows suit with that.

I was originally thinking of doing the gray ombre curtains for the boys' room but I am not completely set on them.

And for our bedroom I was thinking of going with solid dark red or burgundy, but I am afraid it would make the baby's nook too dark color wise. TIA ladies!

  • I am so stuck for the boys' room. H wanted to do blue and green curtains, but we can't find ones that match the colors. Plus more than likely this kiddo will go into the room as well when he gets a little bigger and will have his own color added to the mix. I don't know.

  • Do you think a tannish yellow or brownish gold would work?

  • What about a red sheer curtain. I have some red sheer curtains in my kitchen, on my sliding glass door. In my baby girl's room, I have light green sheer curtains. They let a ton of light in, but still add color and character to the room.
  • For the boys room, the ombre curtains would be cool.

For your room, I think brown or red would work.  Lately I've been digging wood/bamboo blinds with a curtain over so that some natural light can come in to lighten things up and then the curtain gives it a soft look.  It also breaks it up so its not a wall of curtain.  We did this in our living room with a lighter blue curtain over bamboo and I love it.  Some examples:

  • I was just looking at curtains too!  I don't have much help, except to say that another mom mentioned that having blackout curtains was really helpful.  When LO was older and mostly sleeping through the night, kept her from waking up and wanting to get out of bed when the sun rose at 6 am in the summer.  So that's what I'm looking into. Plus, my husband is really sensitive to light, so we might get an extra set for our bed room.
