Took a fall today

I took a pretty nasty fall today getting off the work shuttle. Idiot driver lowers the doorway AS I'm stepping off it!!! So of course I fall out and onto the ground, I took most of the impact sideways onto my purse not straight down and forward.

Went to triage and they monitored me for a bit and baby. No contractions no bleeding (other than my normal bleeding) and have since been discharged. But now I just feel like I'm walking on MORE eggshells, and every ache seems extreme and more worrisome, anyone ever experience a fall during pregnancy?

Re: Took a fall today

  • I'm very glad that you and baby are okay!

I had a fall with DS after slipping on an icy patch. You're right, every ache thereafter is very worrisome!

  • I fell during my first pregnancy when I was about 28 weeks. I didn't go to the hospital bc I felt DS kicking normally. My dr told me that babies are extremely well protected in there and not to worry about it if heart rate and kicks were normal. Sorry to hear about your fall!

  • Oh no. I am so sorry. Ouch.

I was carrying my first over a baby gate when I was about 30wks pregnant with my second. My foot caught the gate and I went down hard. Luckily both boys were ok, but I was sore for a few days.

I also got dizzy and kind of slid down the stairs about a month ago. Fun stuff.

  • Yikes. Glad you and Lo are ok. I fell earlier in this pregnancy. I tripped over DD's toy and landed on my hands and knees. I hurt my wrist, but otherwise was ok. Naturally dd was more concerned about her toy than her mommy laying on the floor.

  • Thankfully I haven't experienced a fall.  Sorry to hear about your fall, though I am glad to hear that they discharged you with no signs of issues.  I also understand walking on eggshells more now that you have had scare.

  • OMG what a jackass that driver is! So glad you are both okay. I was getting on the scale at the doc today, lost my balance and fell off of it. Clearly not scary like yours, I just felt dumb.

  • Glad you and the baby are ok! I haven't fallen yet but I've definitely come close. It rains every day in Florida so the ground is always wet and my flip flops slide everywhere. It scares me every time!
  • I'm sorry about your fall! I'm surprised I haven't fallen yet. I'm such a klutz.

  • I ma totally writing a complaint today about it and actually plan on using the hospital On Call parking pass today and tomorrow and just parking on site I am NOT going back on that shuttle till Monday, and what sucked about it the most is it was my favorite driver he would like wait for me every day to get from my building to the shuttle site since he knew I wasn't running for it (been raining her crazy too). Just a total idiot move on his part *smh*

  • I'm so sorry...Feel better soon!

I was in a car accident Monday and went to the ER. The EMS and the doc both told me at this stage, baby is typically fine because they are so well cushioned in there. They said that accidents and falls, moms take most of the force of impact and baby doesn't feel anything. It made me feel a lot better to hear that, so I hope that helps you to relax a bit too :)
  • Yeah they said kinda the same thing to me, that had I been two weeks further along i would have been MANDATORY to come in but at 22 weeks they just "wanted" me to come in since I have other issues going on in the pregnancy and they wanted to be on the extra careful side. Didn't/hasn't made the worry any less, soon as he gets quiet I am still getting nervous, and like I said I wouldn't even take the shuttle in to work today.

  • I'm glad you and LO are ok! I've taken 2 pretty good falls so far - one I tripped while running and then one where I slipped in a puddle of water on a school floor. It's so scary!

  • No falls here either, which is surprising given how clumsy I am!  I'm glad you are ok...that would be very scary!  Luckily baby is pretty cushioned in there :) Take care of yourself!

  • That must have been so scary--I hope you're doing ok now, it must be especially tough to get over the anxiety as you've described. Sending good vibes your way for a peaceful weekend!

  • Yikes! Glad you and LO are ok! I haven't fallen but one of my biggest fears is coming up to a door & having someone push thru it like a crazy person and hitting my belly. It seems like a crazy fear and I'm not sure why I have it. I don't blame ya for feeling like you are walking on eggshells!
  • @vrae0606 fresh from triage yesterday I let my son out the door and my DH is getting DD and I open DS's door and he rams it back into my belly as he is getting out *smh* bad belly day for me, DH had to literally bite his lip to keep from yelling at him cuz it wasn't like he knew what he was doing but considering what we had just gone through it as just almost over the top for us for the day.
