  • Cross between rolling and scooting. Depends what he's trying to accomplish.

  • Rolling.  He can roll all the way across the room.  But hasn't quite figured out that whole lifting his knees and arms up thing yet.

My guy has this very complicated but precise method of travel. He's just started crawling, but only makes it a short ways before belly-flopping. So to make up for this we get: start at sitting, lower on to belly, up onto knees, rock rock, arm/knee, arm/knee, belly, plank onto toes, move arms backwards to get into sitting, repeat process.

He gets remarkably far doing this!

  • DD rolls some, but scoots backwards. She'll start sitting, go to her belly (or back, then roll to belly). She'll get on all fours, sometimes throwing a downward dog in. Rocks back and forth a few times-her knees frog out on her, and she shoves off the floor with her hands at the same time. She'll keep scooting until she runs into something. Some items, she will figure out how to get unstuck. The other day, she rolled to her back then rolled right back to her belly, and was unstuck :) I think that was my proudest mom moment so far!

  • R is crawling, but oddly only uses one leg and kinda drags the other. He can stand on it, and move it just fine, so I'm not too worried, but it does look funny

  • Rolling, scooting, lunging... he is kind of crazy these days. If he sets his mind on making his way over to something, he makes it happen one way or another.
  • Em does mostly rolling, with a bit of front twisting and backwards sliding thrown in if she really wants something that's otherwise out of her reach :)
  • rolling with some turning in circles. although when she turns halfway around and can no longer see the dog, she screams until she turns the rest of the way and can see him again. :)

  • Scooting. Like a mad woman. It's kind of frightening.

  • It's kind of crawling, kind of scooting (not butt scooting, though).  He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks, rocks, rocks, then lunges forward, landing on his belly.  Then he army crawls/scoots forward using his feet for traction.  Repeat.  It's pretty stinking cute and he can really move when he wants to!
