Trouble TTC

Seriously There is a Black Cloud Over My Head!!!

So I come to find out today a week after we officially decided to pay OOP for IVF that I will most likely be getting laid off very shortly. I work for a Catholic school so I can't even collect unemployment. I will most likely lose my insurance as well. It's like I have a black cloud over my head I swear. Of all times for this to happen. I already started sending my resume out but still. As if I wasn't stressed enough. I know this isn't technically 3T related but I really needed to vent.

  • Thanks, again I know this isn't 3T related but I knew I could vent here. @theholmanherd‌ I work for a Catholic school, we don't pay into state unemployment because we work for the Diocese, they have their own set of rules. I've already been job searching as they've been talking about laying a bunch of employees off for a while. Private schools are suffering right now but I thought I'd at least get through the fall. Me and 3 others are getting laid off. It just couldn't come at a worse time. So now I'm frantically job searching on top of preparing for IVF. Then I call my mother (mistake), thinking she'd offer some support, and her advice was to put off IVF. Thanks mom, that's exactly what I want to do at almost 39 years old. Seriously if I have to go work at Walmart I will. Wine isn't going to cut it tonight, I need Whiskey!!!

  • I'm so sorry, what a blow!

Don't worry, of course it belongs here on 3T. It's another rough road on your journey. :(

Are you certified? Or is your search limited to private schools? Do you think any families from your school are looking for tutors? Do you have a master's, and maybe could apply to adjunct at a community college or local college?

Sorry, but one of my biggest fears is not having a teaching job, so I am constantly looking at other options just in case!

Sorry about your mom too. I may have said, "If you want me ever to give you a grandkid, you'll offer to help pay for this IVF, otherwise leave me alone!" :)

  • @BunnyBerry‌ I don't have my Masters, wish I did. I don't teach, I was an Administrative Assistant in the Finance Office. I honestly thought my mom would offer to help financially, but all she said was that we should qualify for a loan. Just pisses me off bc she had no problem helping my sister out 5 years ago when she got breast implants!!! Gotta love it.

  • Seriously, implants but no implantation? So unfair! I'd probably ask her to explain that to me.

I guess it might be easier to job hunt as an administrative assistant, since there are so many types of businesses that could benefit from your experience? I wish you the best, it is not cool to be job hunting while dealing with TTTC!!

  • Wow. What shitty timing. I'm so sorry. I hope you can find a new and better job soon.

As far as insurance, you might want to check out the healthcare exchange. That's where we get our insurance and it's cheaper than through my husband's job, even considering the difference in taxable income.

I wanted to say too that I don't blame you on wanting to move forward with IVF anyway. I would do the same thing.
