Ugh. I cringe when people announce this early. I just had a friend on Facebook announce she is due in April. Like at least let the pee stick dry before you tell the whole world...

Oh, and Jessa is engaged. I think that happened last week, but I hadn't seen any discussion about it.
  • I think she is due in March.

  • Sorry.... yes, she's due in March. I must have been thinking they got married in June when I typed that.
  • I don't get why people get pearl clutchy about when people announce. Especially celebs. Like, they are innate AWs.
I'm not pearl clutchy about it - just makes me nervous for them, as someone who has experienced a loss. I wouldn't want to have to have another People cover about my miscarriage.

  • Geez, I just can't imagine getting pregnant on my wedding night and the first time I had sex. To each their own, but holy shit.
    This. All this.  @-)

  • Does anyone else wonder about this timing? In the picture, she looks like she already has a little bump, which wouldn't be possible if she was really this early. "About 30 days after Jill and Derick got married they gathered everyone in the living room and shared the news," Jim Bob, 49, tells PEOPLE. "Everyone was clapping and cheering, and we were in shock, too."

Call me cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if this baby came "early"

Also, there's the fact that even through the engagement, they always had a chaperone. *eye roll*

  • @gwinny that message that she recorded is disgusting and completely manipulative. It's just terrible.

I announced my pregnancy the minute I peed on the stick. I was very naive to the possibility of miscarriage. I imagine she is as well.

I did the same. Untelling is the worst.

  • I just feel bad because there is so much to enjoy and experience between first kiss and first baby and I feel like she missed out on that. I spent so many good years getting it on without actually getting it on and it was fabulous. I feel like going from zero to sixty would have been a bummer.

  • I may be naïve,  but I believe they didn't dtd until their wedding night. I'm just sad for them that they didn't take their time before starting a family.
  • I just think the pearl clutching over honeymoon babies is extreme, outdated, and rediculous.
Oh, good. Because DD is a honeymoon baby.

  • What would this thread look like if someone came in and said omg I went on one date with a girl and we had sex, we didn't use protection and now she says she's pregnant - is that possible? Why is it so outrageous that a couple on their honeymoon could get KU the first time but my example scenario would have us all saying duh, sex makes babies?
It's not any different. Like I said it's a stimga that's in our culture. I simply was giving a little background on why I wouldn't personally want a honeymoon baby. Eveyone else can do what they please.
Just for understanding, you wouldn't want a honeymoon baby because people MAY THINK it wasn't in fact conceived on your honey moon?

In my own my personal family it wouldn't be "may think" They would straight up ask me if I was KU before I got married. I'm not arguing that my family isn't fucked up and dysfunctional as all hell.
OKay, but it's just a question.
The answer being "no I wasn't", end of story?

  • I'm illegitimate...my parents never married, had 2 kids, 3 lost babies and still separated. It was hard for my mom back then and my grandma made it worse (my dad's mom), she forced my parents (this is what I'm told so don't ask for details-I don't have any) to not give my brother and I my dads last name. Anywho just another random story. I certainly don't have any feels on whether people are married when they have children...as long as the child is cared for, marital status means very little.
  • I'm very late to this but for my job I had to have an extensive background check. When I was in my interview the background investigator asked me who knew about my illegitimate child. I was so taken aback and I said, "everyone." She then said, "who is everyone?" This was in 2009, unbelievable.

In a fucked up way, this made me laugh.  Mostly because the background investigator is a dumbass for using such an offensive term, but I can only imagine my reaction to someone calling my very-much-part-of-my-entire-life child "illegitmate".
I laugh about it now, for sure. At the time I was very offended. I said, "everyone knows about her, my family, my friends, my co-workers, everyone I've ever met." Apparently they "had to ask" because I might be bribed into selling government secrets if no one knew this scandalous information. Eyeroll.
