Toddler question

Those of you with toddlers. .. how do you do the whole coat + carseat thing without having the coat on the kid in the carseat in winter? Especially for short trips outside...like into daycare and out.

Is there a special non bulky but warm coat you've found? Or do you put the coat on to go to the car, then take it off In the car, then on again to go back outside and into a building?

I tended to put on a light jacket even in cold weather but always felt bad walking with her into daycare with these kids who were all bundled up.

From now on, I will only ever buy the 3 in 1 coats - ya know the kind thats 2 thin coats that zip together? So I basically have the fleece inner zipped up, then the car seat straps, and then the outer layer can go overtop of the straps for extra warmth.

This is the coat we used. Warm enough to run from the car into the store, but not bulky to effect the straps on the carseat. We had an actual winter coat for when he played outside.

I was wondering the same thing. DS will be into his convertable by the time winter comes this year, we don't have an attached garage and it gets down to -30. It's way to cold even to go from house to car without a proper puffy coat or snow pants

It really wasn't hard to make. I'm out if town right now but could take a pic of it when I get home. I altered it a bit from that design but it works.

I'm thinking about getting this coat, the cozywoggle. Last year, we just used a thin fleece and moved quickly, but I'm not for sure what we are doing this year.

@chillypenguin‌ I have never seen a jacket like that! Whoa! I guess I'm not the only one who's thought too much about this!
