Best overnight diaper for a big boy (28 months), huggies overnight size 6=leaks

DS is a great sleeper! He sleeps 11-12 hours overnight. I've been using Huggies Overnight size 6 diapers for awhile. He wears Pampers size 5 during the day. He is ~36" tall and weighs 32-33lbs. I haven't tried the overnight pull ups yet. He is leaking through the Huggies about every other night. We are not ready for potty training yet. What should I try next for overnight that will hopefully help prevent him peeing through the diaper?

Thanks!

I have heavy nighttime wetters. Both DS1 and DS2 are doing well with size 5 Pampers Extra Protection at night. I hate Huggies, they leaked for me both times I tried them, even during the day. that being said, my DS2 is smaller than your child, about 35" and 30 pounds. He has a leak about once or twice per month. He wears Luvs size 4 during the day. May switch to 5 soon. Also, ds2 is in bed between 11 and 12 hours st night.

  • I read on a post a while back where Moms loved these diaper inserts - the Amazon reviews say that it can cause diaper rash though.

  • Pampers makes a size 7 diaper. It's not an overnight but the size alone can be helpful to hold more liquid. We went through a time about 6 months ago with our big boy where he was leaking out of the size 6 overnights, too, so for awhile, we were double diapering-- a 6 on the inside and a 7 backwards on the top (the back comes up higher and catches more). It worked but I wouldn't consider this a fabulous solution for warm weather. On the plus side, over the last few months, he hardly pees at night at all and we're back to just a regular diaper (no overnight).

  • I am also team cut back on liquids before bed.  And I'm not sure if this will help, but when Huggies/Pampers have leaked, I have found Up&Up (Target) brand tends to still work.  You might want to give them a try.

  • We would put BRU vinyl pants over DS's diaper at night and it kept in the leaks.  Just be sure to get 1 or 2 sizes bigger than LO's age.
