  We used the side snap shirts under 2 layers of swaddles, fuzzy pjs or sleep sacks until the stump fell off.  We found that the shirts were so much more convenient that onesies at that age with all the diapers he went through.

  Ds is in a onesie for the first time today. He was a tiny peanut so I'm glad I got the Gerber newborn side snap shirts. He actually fit them rather than drowning in them for the first two weeks.

  I bought kushies side snap onesies, but I use the carters side snap tees almost every day. We did normal onsies, but we also put her in a larger size, not newborn sized (she was on the verge of the next size up), so it wasn't a tight fit.

  Love the side snap tees for newborns. Not just because of the umbilical stump and easy diaper changes, but because it makes me nervous pulling onesies/shirts over a NB head. So much easier to just slip on a snap tee since it doesn't go over their head/neck.
