Sore Breast

I'm back again, with a different pain. Yay me. This BFing stuff is definitely a lot more difficult than it was last time around. I did go see the LC this week and we got the first issue resolved - turns out LO would re-latch incorrectly after fussing/popping off, which ended up in a lot of pain for me.

I'm having pain again on the same side, but this time its the top of my breast. It feels very sore/tender to the touch. I'm not engorged, there's no redness, no hard spots, and DS has been nursing well every 1-2 hours. It just started hurting a couple of hours ago, there had been no pain at all before that. Any thoughts on what it could be? Besides ibuprofen, is there anything else I can do for the pain?

Re: Sore Breast

  • For me this signaled a plugged duct even if I couldn't see redness or feel a hard spot. I hope it's just going to resolve itself for you and you don't get a plugged one.

  • I use massage for any sore spots and heat.
  • It's a plugged duct :(  I've continued nursing on that side, massaged, and used the Lansinoh TheraPearl. So far no luck but I suppose maybe it's too soon? It's been 3 days.
  • Keep massaging and try Silverette! I used them since day first after seeing all my mummies friends in pain because my italian friend swore on them and i didn't get any pain nor infection! Plus they look really cute :-)
