Need prayers

First pregnancy for me and my husband. Had my first u/s today thinking I was 7w3d but was measuring only 6w2d. Not surprised by that and we were able to see a heartbeat, but not able to measure bpm. Did another blood draw to measure UCG and have a follow up u/s next week but my doctor basically told me to prepare for the worst. I've had no cramping or spotting. Is it too early or is the doc right? :(

Re: Need prayers

  • @snegde‌ I have no idea what OPK means? 7w was based on first day of last period. 6w makes more sense based on conception so wasn't concerned about that part. :-/

  • I agree with pp that you might have just ovulated late. Weird that your doctor would get you worried if there's a heartbeat and you may have just ovulated late. Are there any missing details that you haven't mentioned?
  • Thank you!
  • Sorry you are going through this. Positive thoughts going your way. Keep us updated.

  • @OliveMom3‌ no missing details that I know of. Should learn latest UCG results tomorrow. Previous two were doubling appropriately.
  • Hmm. Then super weird that he got you all worked up over this. I'm rooting for you hon!
  • Sending prayers. And I would start looking for a new doctor, this one sounds like an ass.

Totally agree. Your doctor must have been having a bad day:-( I truly believe in the power of positive prayer and positive thinking. You have mine.

  • Thanks all. I thought it seemed extreme but of course gave me a complete breakdown yesterday. Fortunately she is not my regular doctor and just a NP so if all goes well I will be requesting to never see her again.
  • Update: heard from the NP that my UCG is at 24,288. Based on my last one a couple of weeks ago (1684), she thinks I should be at 100k. Still no spotting or cramping so I just have to wait until the follow up u/s next Weds, 8/27.
  • Thoughts and prayers!
  • Hope everything goes well. I'm pretty sure 24,000 HCG is fine for 7 weeks, and it's definitely fine for 6 weeks. Not sure what the problem is, but good luck!

  • Your numbers seem normal to me. Normal numbers, heartbeat present, I'd say you don't have a thing to worry about except this np. She needs to go back to school.
  • Agreed with the previous posters-- your situation was very similar to mine-- in everything-- ultrasound measuring a week earlier, good heartbeat, HcG levels-- and my doc hasn't said anything other than a big CONGRATULATIONS! Maybe you should tell your doc "Don't get me worried unless I actually have something to worry about?" She might think she's helping, but she's probably just making you stress out, which is worse!

  • Not being able to measure heart tones at 6 weeks is common. It is a good sign you could see the heart beating! With my first, we had the same situation at 6w1 day, came back two weeks later to a heart beat of 165! Now I am six weeks again, had an ultra sound and heart beat today was 113. Makes me nervous that it is low, but the NP told us the heart literally could have started beating in the past couple of days and she was happy with 113 for now. I'll try not to worry until my next appointment. Good luck to you!

  • tennss: I heard exactly the same thing last week from a doctor who was not my usual doc. Instead of focusing on the positive things, she said that because I had no heartbeat (I was just 6w) and that since I was actively bleeding, and "geriatric" that I should just go home and prepare for a mc. Well, two days later I was told everything looked fine, and a week later there was heartbeat. Some doctors just have horrible, awful bedside manners and think that they are "helping" us by preparing us for the worst, when actually they are damaging us by giving us very little hope.  My point to all of this is not to give up hope, and to take it day by day, and that there's a very real chance that jackass doctor can be completely and utterly wrong. Hugs to you.
