Cloth Diapering

Suggestions for heavy wetter

So LO is now one month.  We are mainly using pfs and covers during the day, fitteds at night.  He literally soaks every diaper.  never had any leaks using the pfs and fiiteds unless we dont fold well enough or like the last 3 nights, DH has left the top of the pf exposed and when i go to do his first  MOTN change, his clothes are wet. I'd like him to sleep as long as possible for his first stretch...should i put a doubler in with the pf? I have hemp and sherpa.  i only bought 2 to see how they worked.  sorry for my typing-using one hand. tia

  • What size prefolds?  I went from xsmalls to smalls right around 4 weeks.

If you can't size up, I'd try one of the doublers.

I went to a better fitted at night (Little Tush TT) and haven't had issues unless the covers on incorrectly.  But you could always try a good overnight fitted.

  • Tell your DH to tuck the exposed PF into the cover.

Try the doubler and see if that helps with the absorbency. It may or may not help the baby sleep longer.
  • The hemp doubler + workhorse work pretty well for us overnight. It's definitely soaked in the morning but no leaks. I used the NB workhorse until about 5 weeks. When DS stopped pooping overnight, I bought 2 sbish OS snapless which we love and he can go 10 hours at night. I can still use a medium workhorse + hemp doubler in a pinch though.

Yes, I tried that two nights in a row. So last night he finally tucked the back in but left the front exposed. But he was using a thirsties XS cover, so I took those out of the rotation. Hopefully it won't be a problem anymore!!  He slept for 3 hours last night.  He's done 4 hours twice now, so I'm trying to think of anything that can get me some more of those 4 hour stretches!

We are already in size S workhorses. He was  a big baby.  Your baby that was born in June is already sleeping 10 hour stretches? Awesome for you!
