New mommy need help

My baby is six month now, and I am thinking go back to work. Because I only nursing after he born, so now he doesn't drink any formula and doesn't use any bottle, what can I do?

Re: New mommy need help

  • Have you offered a bottle, or are you just assuming he won't take one?

At 6 months, you could offer a straw cup with pumped milk.  The "Playtex First Lil Gripper Straw Training Cup" worked well to start for us (because you can squeeze it and help him figure out that milk comes out of the straw.  My daughter picked it up in just a few days and could drink from it herself.

  • I try all different kinds bottle, but no one work. I think I will miss the BM and formula, and I try some baby food, but he look like doesn't like it :((
  • Playtex First Lil Gripper Straw Training Cup? Six month can use this? I didn't try this, but I will go to get one, I just want to try everything can make him drink mill...

That was the one we started with, and she could use it herself in a few days.  After that she could use any straw cup (we have multiple brands).
  • There are some explanations if you google on how to successfully train an infant to a straw cup. I wouldn't bother with a bottle at 6 months either.

I would not force baby food to replace milk feedings completely at this point. Your baby is way too little and should primarily be ingesting breastmilk or formula.

  • Is reverse cycling not an option? My LO won take a bottle either, and she's 5 months old, but I find since we cosleep (she sleeps in a crib in our room) it's not too difficult for me to nurse her when we are together. She wont take a bottle at daycare (8 - 9 hours) at all, but she still manages to get in 7 - 9 nursings a day in the remaining hours.

I like the suggestions for Playtex First Lil Gripper Straw Training Cup. I'm goig to try that too!

  • Then what your baby eat when she is in day care?
  • @Ni8713 Absolutely nothing!  Many babies STTN and easily go 7 - 9 hours without a feed... none that live in MY house (lol) but I hear they exist in a magical mythical world, far away from mine. :D

But instead of STTN and not feeding for 7 hours at night, she just doesn't feed at all for 7 hours at daycare.

Again, it's not for everyone... but it works for us. I'm a terrible pumper with low output, so I'd never be able to EBF if I had to give her 10 oz of milk during the day.

If you want more info, you can find it at kellymom. They are a reputable source
