Re: Male or female OB?

  • I have a female but actually prefer a male.

  • Initially, I only wanted to see a female and was uncomfortable at the thought of a male OB. I saw a female the first few times and then saw a male because they make you see them both. I was actually pretty nervous. I ended up really liking him and now prefer him over the female! He is really goofy & makes jokes and has more experience and always says he "has seen it all" which makes me more comfortable.

  • I have a female OB (all the ones in my regular practice are female); and that's what I prefer. I had to get a lot of tests and monitoring done by the MFM office due to complications, and the one MFM doctor was male and the other was female. They only ever met with me about non-stress tests, growth scans/BPPs, and stuff like that; they never gave me an internal or anything. (I actually hated the male MFM, but not because he was male, for other reasons.)
  • SS- I had a male ob and a female ob, they alternated appts and one was always on call. They were both there for my c-sxn.

  • I was seeing a female the last 15 weeks of my pregnancy but she wasn't on call when I delivered so I ended up with a male. I see the male doctor now. He's really nice. I thought I'd have a preference but I don't.

  • SS - I rotate through all the OBs at my practice. I don't really have a sex preference. I just want my doc to be knowledgeable, have a decent bedside manner, and leave me alone to be pregnant and have my baby with as few bothers as possible :)

  • I've had both male and female OBs. In my experience the makes were more sympathetic and more gentle during exams. I wouldn't not go to a female OB, I've just had better luck with the males.

  • The OB I always went to before getting pregnant is a female, which I preferred. But I ended up seeing pretty much all the doctors in the practice, male and female, when I was pregnant, so I don't really care anymore.

Actually the first male OB I went to is the same doctor that delivered Snooki's baby. :-S

  • I have a female OB, but I don't really have a preference. She has small hands and that's what I look for in an OB LOL ;)
