When should I feel movement with a anterior placenta?

So I'm 16 wks and this is my 6th pregnancy but 5th living baby! I have an anterior placenta I haven't felt the baby yet is this normal? Does anyone know anything about this?

I haven't experienced it personally but from what I read probably some time towards the middle of the 2nd trimester.

  • I have had three babies and 3 anterior placentas (this 4th time as well).  I have consistently started to feel unmistakable movement at 19 weeks each time.

I had one with my first and I felt her weakly at 20 weeks. Movement for the most part was pretty dull for me through most of it unless she got some strong kicks going.

  • I had an anterior placenta last pregnancy and first felt movement around 18 weeks. I'm also over weight so that also factored in.

  • I had an anterior placenta with my first. I felt some flutters at 16 weeks, but nothing substantial until 20. By 24 weeks I was already cursing the kicks to the cervix. Youch!
  • I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and again with this one.  I started to feel some flutters around 20 weeks and kicks on my sides by 22 weeks.  I never really felt anything in the front, not until she was really big at least.  Some of the first kicks that I felt were to my bladder and cervix.  Not comfortable!

  • I also have an anterior placenta, but I'm only 13 weeks so not feeling movement anyways yet! The u/s tech said I wouldn't feel anything until later than most people do. I would think maybe by 18-20 weeks?

  • I didn't feel movement until 24 weeks with my anterior placenta. It was awful. I hope it is faster for you!

  • Thanks ladies I was really getting worried!!
  • With DD I felt her around 19-20 weeks. But later in the game I dont think it mattered- She was crazy in there and I didnt miss out on one kick :)
  • 18 weeks usually many later in pregnancy
  • This is my first baby and I have an anterior as well. I was a little disappointed, but just cause I was anxious to feel the baby moving! I'm sure once I start feeling it though I might be happy I couldn't feel it till later.
