Average cost of infant care? Catonsville/Ellicott City

Good morning ladies!  New to this board.
FTM here at 36, my husband and I are trying to budget and I have really no clue how much clild care is in our area.  I have looked into a few places, but before I tour and call figured I would throw it out there and see if anyone is willing to share their cost of infant or child care so I have a rough idea.
If you can please share whether it is in home or a center I would appreciate it.  Any advice welcome!

  • We are with Children of America in Ellicott and it's about $350/week.  When we talked with KinderCare it was about $330/week.  Goddard in Ellicott was $400/week.

  • OMGOSH I can't imagine paying that much, especially for in home care. 180 a week is what my provider charges in Baltimore county

  • My daughter is only part-time so I pay 45 dollar a day, but if I were full time it would be 225 per week for an in home licensed provider.

  • Ellicott City is expensive, we're exploring options there and in Columbia now and the ranges are $275-423 per week.  That is not including home care, which I understand runs cheaper.. and Catonsville should be cheaper than Ellicott City just because of cost of living.

  • Thanks again everyone for sharing!
    Time to make a spreadsheet!

  • We're in a center in Ellicott City and pay $1250/month for infant care.  The rate drops when the child is 2.

  • we don't do daycare but I've worked at a couple in the area. Centers are going to be more expensive than home day cares. If you'd like I know a couple of ladies who do at home day care and may have spots available.

  • We use an in-home licensed daycare in Columbia and we pay $230 a week.

  • Do any of these licensed in-home daycares in Columbia or Ellicott City have openings?  We're looking to start daycare for our 8 month old sometime around the first of the year.  Would welcome referrals!

  • My husband and I have priced childcare centers in Columbia and Elkridge and of the 10 we looked into the average was around $1400/mo. Some a little more some a little less. I do believe in home care is a cheaper route. We are still trying to decide on a place as well. The toughest thing we have encounter is finding infant care that will allow part-week like Tues-Thurs...Good luck with your search.

  • Sorry to resurrect and old post, but I'm also looking in the area. Can anyone recommend an in-home provider in the Columbia area? Thanks in advance!

I live in Ellicott City as well and my 3 year old is at Columbia Academy.  The 3 year old program is a little over $1200 a month, plus fees.  #2 is due in the fall - infant care for him will be $1641 per month (drops when they are in the 2 year old room).  This wasn't even the most expensive center we looked at.  Crazy - the two of them will cost not too much more than our mortgage.

Hi! I am a first time mom in Baltimore. I am researching day cares and am interested in seeing who you use. My husband works in the county. Are you happy with them? Can you send me some information via personal message. Thank you!
