Re: Formula - Poop - Help!
Also, since he is getting some breast milk, find a good, high quality probiotic for you to take and he will get the benefits as well.
Second, I have not tried alternating BM and formula feedings. I only get about an ounce of formula every 3 hours when I pump and only have a small frozen stash so I am not sure I have enough to try this. :-(
And yes, my pedi has given me permission to use prune juice to help. Other than that, her only recommendation was to try different formulas.
when it comes to pumping have you tried to stay hydrated? Drink plenty of water, try eating oatmeal or oatmeal cookies (or special cookies/teas that help milk production) when pumping, try pumping 5-10 minutes past when you stop seeing milk. Also try holding your LO, smelling him, listening to his cries or recording his cries and listening to them. You can also press the letdown button which can spur on milk production.
When i was pumping while LO was in the nicu I'd pump every 3 hrs for a half an hour. I don't get a whole lot of milk but I get roughly 4 ozs, 2 ozs per breast, which is about how much she eats per feed.
