Did he "drop"?

How do I know if my baby dropped?  I am 36 weeks along and I think he did this past weekend but I can't be sure and my husband can't tell

On Saturday, I woke up and it seemed like my belly was smaller.  I also felt more pressure around my pubic bone area and a lot less pressure right under my chest where I used to feel him a lot.  I am also going to the bathroom to urinate twice every hour now... Could it mean that he dropped?   Once he has dropped, does that mean he is getting ready to arrive?

My next dr. appt is not for another week, so I have no one to ask until then.

  • Baby can drop & then migrate north again at any point. You are 36 weeks, relax. You have at least 3 more weeks for baby to cook. I "dropped" at 35 weeks with DS & he kept cooking until 41w2d.

  • Your baby dropping is not a sign of imminent labor.  It's just part of the process.  It really means nothing.

IME I knew the baby had dropped when I couldn't go an hour without peeing, was actively peeing myself, and could breathe easier.
  • My baby dropped at 28 weeks this time... I'm 32 weeks and no labor. There is no way to tell when labor will come.

My baby looks like he will fall out but has yet to do so.
  • My baby has dropped and then moved up again 3 separate times, and I'm almost 41 weeks. It's basically meaningless, just something that happens near the end.
  • Thanks for the advice.  I am glad to hear your experience.  I was freaking out that baby would come before my next appt! :)
