@PeanutRN, I'm not sure how particular your RE will be. Maybe call their office to see how necessary it is that he be there? For our first consult, our Dr. basically sat us down and asked each of us our entire health history. Maybe you hubby could write down any pertinent history. I would think you'd be okay as long as you had his info. That's just my thought. Let me know what you find out.
Me:29 DH:34 Married 2010 TTC: 11/2012 - 5/2014 + 4 month break during June 2014: First RE appt June 25th: HSG normal Dx: After 3 SA's, MFI (low counts, 0%morphology) Currently: Scheduled for IVF-ICSI cycle #1 in October 10/31/14 ER 13R, 9M, 9F 11/5/14 ET of two 5d blasts Beta 11/13/14!
I went alone because DH was out if town. I didn't want to delay it anymore. We had a bunch of paperwork mailed to us ahead if time so he filled out his history, etc. DH was on board with whatever I wanted to do moving forward, so I didn't really need him there. Obviously I would rather him be there, but it wasn't necessary.
Check with your RE. Before we had our first consult we had to log into our patient portals and fill out ALL of our medical history. DH went with me the first time, but in all honesty, he didn't need to be there medically. I've had multiple monitoring appointments since and while he's offered, it's not necessary. You'll find a lot of women in the waiting room are alone, unless it's a procedure. GL.
I went alone without even thinking about asking my husband to come along. I guess because I had a pretty clear picture of what was going on and that it was my physical issue, it didn't even cross my mind (or maybe I was just that ditzy a couple months ago) and it was not an issue. They told me he would need to schedule an appointment for an SA and bloodwork and fill out a new patient packet. He filled it out, I faxed it in and scheduled his appointment for him, and everything went very smoothly. They probably have that happen more than you'd think.
I did ask him to come with me to the appointment when the RE reviewed all of our test results just because I was nervous and wanted him to hear stuff from the RE instead of me, just in case I was relaying information unclearly. I wanted us to all be on the same page. Going forward, he won't go to any appointments with me.
Me: 28 MH:35
Married September 2012. TTC since September 2013
June 2014 - Dx w/ significant PCOS and referred to RE.
July/August 2014 - Testing complete: Testosterone & AMH very high, FSH slightly high, Vitamin D low, tubes and lining all lovely. DH SA: A+
I went by myself to the initial appointment too. As long as your husband does his SA later (or ahead, whichever they prefer) and fills out his part of the medical history, it will be fine. I think the one you'd want him at more is the follow-up where you talk about test results and a treatment plan, but even that you could potentially do on your own.
Good luck!
**siggy warning** **everyone welcome**

Hello....I went to my initial RE appointment by myself, and pretty much go alone to all my ultrasounds/IUIs/etc unless they are scheduled on a weekend because my DH has a strict work schedule and cannot ask off for doctors appointments (well I guess he could, but I doubt they would allow it). If you are really anxious to go and get your treatments started I would just go alone.

Love this man....he was so before his time in his thoughts and ideas about the world....been obsessed about him lately bringing it back to the early 90s.
I went alone to my first consult, which ended up being fine. I gave a complete medical history, but most of the appointment was just discussing the testing process and potential issues. Since other than the SA most of the testing is for the woman, it really wasn't a big deal. You can double check with the doctor's office, but for us it worked out fine, and actually gave me an opportunity to voice some fears/ask some questions without my DH there.

I went to the first consult by myself, it was really just discussing everything, didn't bother me or my doctor that he wasn't there. Although on Monday we have our first IVF consult and I want him there. I need his support now more than ever! Good luck!!!

I also went by myself. But we did fill out the paperwork together before the appointment. It was fine, just take notes. My husband can hardly make it to any appts, so we make sure to save his time off for the really important ones. Good luck!
I went alone when we switched RE's...it was fine! Just take lots of notes and fill him in when you get home! Because of our schedules, I've actually done my IUI's alone too! It stinks but it's just how it's worked out so far!
