Any other really early risers out there?

LO is just over 4 months and is awake at 430 am every day it's torture! It's impossible to keep him up past 7 pm we've tried everything short of hanging him by his toes to keep him awake later at night. Generally he sleeps great between 7-430 only waking once half of the time for a feed. Anyone figured out how to deal with this issue? I'm a a zombie by 7am so something's gotta give.

  • Try an earlier bedtime or the "wake to sleep" method.

  • As someone who's baby wakes up 4-5 times between 8 and 8, I lack sympathy. Wait a week. Will probably change
  • LO will go down for a nap around 7 and we wake her up again at 9 and try to keep her up for another hour so she will sleep longer. Sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn't. Worth a shot though.
  • DS did this for about 3 weeks or so... It was torture!! But now he's in a new habit of waking at 3 and then going back to sleep until around 6 or 6:30. Hang in there.. It's prob just a phase!

This is the same for us. My LO goes to bed at 8pm, wakes to feed at 11:30 back to sleep by 11:45, then he poops while he's sleeping around 3:30am and he wakes up while I'm changing his nappy, back to sleep by 4am, and then up at 6:30 with a big smile on his face every time. His first nap of the day starts at 7:45am. He has a very specific schedule now, and it always works for us to pay attention to his sleepy cues.

  • LO goes to bed around 8.  I'm not sure why everyone always recommends an earlier bedtime. I keep trying to keep mine up later!

She usually wakes up around 1ish and then sometime between 415-445.  She will go back down after that until 7 or 8, but I have to get up at 5 for work, so there's no point in me going back to sleep.  Starbucks does not make big enough cups for all the caffeine I need to make it through my work day.

  • Ours is a crap shoot too. Since starting daycare LO gets really cranky for bed by 7:30, 8:00 pm the latest. Sometimes she takes a cat nap around 5:30-ish, sometimes she falls asleep at 6 pm and doesn't get up until about 4:00/5:00 am and sometimes we wake her up to feed/change her and put her back to sleep. Some nights it could be a 3:00 am wake up. But for the most part she will go back to sleep until 6:00/7:00 am-ish after we feed/change her and sometimes she won't go back to sleep at all! I feel terrible for the moms still getting up every 2 or so hours and then getting through the day....

I hear you on the coffee!

Ppl rec an earlier bedtime bc for a lot of kids it actually has the opposite effect and makes them sleep longer. DD is like this. LO is not :(

  • Mine LO definately sleeps later with an earlier bedtime. Worth try!
