xp - transition from crib to bed

My twins are almost 3 and share a room. They are good sleepers and surprisingly haven't tried to climb out of the crib. We decided to move them to twin beds so took the cribs down Friday.  They went to bed Fri night at 10 p.m. b/c they wouldn't stay put. Didn't nap Sat. Went to bed late Sat and woke up several times, then today no nap and just fell asleep at 9 p.m.  They usually sleep from 7:30 to 7 and about a 2 hour nap.  Any suggestions to keep them in their bed?

Re: xp - transition from crib to bed

  • They will get to use to it once the novelty wears off. I moved DS2 to a bed in his brother's room when he was 2 (DS1 was 5). He adjusted in a couple of days. Also I had to get a clock which changes colors at preset time (6:30am for us) so that if we wakes up and it's not yet green he is supposed to stay in his bed. It usually works. Other than walking out when he has a bad dream or needs a drink he goes to sleep and sleeps well.

  • No advice, but I am so not looking forward to this transition with DD2.  DD1 was a breeze.  She watch DH convert her crib to a toddler bed, climbed in, and we never heard another thing about it.  She never got up.  Ever.  Honestly, she wouldn't even get up in the morning on her own until she was 4.  She'd wake up and sing in her bed until we went in to get her.

DD2 is a different kid.  She's a runner and a climber.  I'm hoping we can keep her in her crib until she's 6 or so. LOL.
