3rd Trimester

Pelvic pressure

36 weeks and the last 4 nights I've had low down pressure and discomfort at my tailbone/rectum and low abdomen mostly when I go to bed and through the night. Lots of tossing and turning mixed with a touch of insomnia I'm just wondering when I should start looking into early labour as a possibility? First time around, baby was a day early, wiggled & kicked right up til birth, no mucus plug to speak of and water broke all at once which brought on strong contractions. No issues at the moment with constipation. I don't see Dr. til almost end of the month. Any thoughts?

Re: Pelvic pressure

  • Normal.  I had lots more pressure and contractions with my second.  I had contractions that would start and be pretty strong and then patter out for weeks.

You can call your OB anytime if you are concerned but unless you are having consistent strong contractions it sounds normal.

  • Sounds typical end of third tri to me. But, listen to your gut and call your doc if it gives you POM.

  • Oh good! Thanks. :-) Figured it just may be the fun of the end.
  • I have had similar issues this pregnancy and let me say chiropratic care is amazing if you can afford it or get some @ a discount... I go in weekly and it really helps with the aches and pains that come with late pregnancy... Walking is also great to release some pressure... totally normal good luck!
  • my thoughts are it's typical third tri pelvic pressure.  Good luck!
