My dad's blood clotting disorder is called Factor V Leiden. His blood clots faster than normal people and he only found out after he had stints put in his heart and he coded after because the blood clotted and caused a heart attack! It was so scary...
I was reading online and the m/s rate is 30% with this disorder and most women have to take daily shots, does not sound fun...
What disorder did you find out you have?
Re: hsm
I have the Factor 3 Prothrombin abnormality. I had a DVT (blood clot) in my leg when I was pregnant with my daughter over 12 years ago. So when I talked to my doctor about trying to conceive, she had all the genetic tests run on me (including the Factor V). If I get pregnant, I will have to start on the Lovenox shots immediately. I had to do heparin shots after I got my blood clot until the end of my pregnancy. It sucked, but was worth it.
I am seeing a hemotologist later this month and will find out more about it.
Congrats again!
Wow, does not sound like fun at all, I'm really sorry, but I'm sure you're like me and would do it for a healthy baby!
Good luck!! Here's all my spare baby dust to you!!
