Trouble TTC

yikes I gained 10 pounds***child mentioned****

So my sucks OBGYN told me at my last appointment that if I lost 30 pounds I would have a better chance of conceiving.
I am a size 16/18 and very tall. Yes I need to lose weight.

****child warning****

After the beaver face said this. I tactfully reminder her that I am 10 pounds less than I was 3 years ago when I got pregnant with my DD.

Anywho. Any great diet\ workouts you recommend? ??

  • I am working on losing as well. I am about a size 18 as well but im only 5'3 lol. I have been using the app Lose it give me my alotted cals for the day based on my ht/wt and plan (losing .5-2lb a week) I also used my fitness pal but like this one just as well. Its a huge battle trying to lose with PCOS so its a super slow process but I am slowly doing it! I yo-yo but never seem to lose my middle never go up or down more then 1 size between 210-240 its really frusterating

  • I also just commented on @AutomnRay thread but in summary:

    - At least 30 minutes of cardio a day and find something you actually LIKE to do.  I used to run a lot and have done some half marathons but I actually don't like running so I switched to kickboxing and boot camps which are a lot more fun and less boring.

    - Cut out the sodas and sugary drinks and drink tons of water.

    - Cut back on the red meat and make sure half of your plate is covered in veggies.

I know that's all super obvious stuff but I found it very effective when I was trying to lose the extra weight.  Little changes like switching from full fat to fat free milk or from white bread to wheat bread will make a difference.  I like to take baby steps when I'm cutting stuff too.  I find it easier to stick to a plan if I set small goals rather than going on a huge diet and then finding myself hiding in the hall closet eating a sleeve of oreos because I neeeeed the sugar.

  • I love weight watchers, it is a great program! I have done meeting and online, personally I prefer meetings :) I had a great leader which made it worth while and the $$ but if money is tight try online it's a little more affordable. :)
  • I would cut all breads, pasta, sodas, And all cookies, cake, etc. Drink lots of water throughout the day and/or green tea, which is a good metabolizer. I personally eat dry oats, potatoes, or sweet potatoes (small portions) for carbs; I tried a low carb diet once and it gave me headaches so now I include small portions of carbs in my diet. Do some type of cardio, running, jogging, dancing, even walking if you want to start slow :) I personally did insanity which I loved but it is brutal, great results though. Good luck!
  • I mentioned it  in @AutomnRay post, but I find green smoothies to be a great diet choice!  Although I hesitate to call it a diet because it's probably more of a lifestyle choice overall.

It started off as a cleanse challenge with a friend of mine back in May, but I found I liked the taste/convenience and effects of them (not to get too personal, but keeping me regular/full of energy) that we kept going.  I have them as breakfast and lunch almost every weekday when I'm at work.  Along with sensible snacks like unsalted nuts, veggies, etc. I find I stay full during the day.

It's been about 3 months and I've lost about 10-12 pounds (with exercise too).  How's this for unfair, my husband has lost about 30 pounds doing the same thing!  As I mentioned on the other post, I'd be happy to share some really simple recipes if you're interested.
