Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Are Baby Mum Mums a choking hazard??

I obviously know that anything can be a choking hazard for a baby.....but I was shocked at how 'sharp' (for lack of a better word) the edge of a Baby Mum Mum was when I broke it off.  Not to mention, the pieces broke off way too easily - and they didn't dissolve in my mouth the way I thought they would....yes, I'm a dork and I try everything before it goes into DS's mouth.

I thought Baby Mum Mums would be similar to teething biscuits (which DS loves)....but they seem too grown up for him.  He's 7 months - and has no teeth yet.

Am I wrong??  Am I missing something?  When did you give your baby some Mum Mums?    Thanks for educating me Embarrassed

  • 6m and they dissolve easily.  My kid is addicted to these.

  • 6 months, they turn to goo as soon as you touch them to your tongue. I never broke mine up. I just let her gnaw on the thing.
  • My DD has been feeding these to herself since 6 months, no choking, not even a gag.
  • We started about 7 months, our son loves them, we give him a whole one and he goes to town. He has never choked, and I tried one and it dissolved pretty much by me breathing on it. I don't worry about them at all.

  • Thanks, ladies.  I'm wondering if I have a stale batch of 'em because as I was tasting one, the edge broke off very easily - and it did not dissolve in my mouth.  I think I'll buy another box & give them a second try - because they obviously make your lil' ones quite happy!

Thanks so much for your replies!

  • ds kinda gags on them.  It worried me too much I have not given them again.  I tried them and they don't dissolve very quickly in my opinion.
