Worst mother of the year award?

I had two glasses if wine at dinner tonight, started at 7, finished by 8:15. I got home and fed baby at 10:15 as I felt sober, then pumped the rest. Tested the milk just to see and it came back totally positive for alcohol. Needless to say I'm in "stand over the crib like a serial killer" mode and feel like the worst mother in the world!!! What are things I should be worried about and look for???

Yeah it may be positive for trace amounts, but that doesn't mean you made your baby drunk!

The amount that was actually transmitted to baby was so tiny, it won't hurt a thing. When we were little, many parents rubbed our gums with whiskey when we were teething.

Haha thanks ladies!! That will help me sleep better! I still dumped the milk just incase. Then went and felt LO's chest to make sure he was breathing and woke him up! Darn it! Lol.

I like to do the at-home test called "do I feel alright? Yes. Okay we are good to go, kid". Works every time!

Sometimes I think my LO could really use a glass of vino to chill a bit! Lol. I also go by the if I can drive I can nurse mentality. It also helps to reduce my craving for just one more glass when I consider how sucky it would be to be hungover and trying to feed/calm a fussy baby!

When I read it shows trace amounts, I was like, "hell no." I threw mine out so I wouldn't go crazy. I have a glass of wine every night. It's good for both of us.

Agreed, those strips are terrible. Your milk has as much alcohol as your blood so even if you have a BAC of .08 that means that it's 0.08% alcohol. You would have to feed your LO gallons and gallons of BM for them to get one shot of alcohol. I did the math once and in a 4 oz bottle there would be something like 1/200th of a teaspoon of alcohol with a BAC of .08. Can You tell that I like to justify indulging in a glass of wine or a beer!

I fear being hungover with DD more than anything else. Such a terrifying thought! Shudder. But yea, throw out the test strips.

I've been there and it's worse than I imagined! We went out for my birthday and THANK GOD for DH taking her in the morning!
