Please share your experience with night weaning. Once completed, did your little one STTN?
What's going on here is that DS still wakes at least once a night (sometimes twice) and wants to nurse to go back to sleep. He sleeps in his crib in his nursery. We've tried sleep training the past, but it lasts temporarily until he either gets sick, we travel, he gets a new tooth, or some other change. Now if he cries for more than a couple of minutes in the crib, he vomits. So leaving him in his crib to CIO isn't for us.
I'm wondering if I can get this kid night weaned (probably by having my husband take over night duties), if he'll no longer have a reason to wake during the night. Thoughts?
Re: Did night weaning = STTN for you?
Around 6 months we started to gently wean some night feedings. DS use to STTN 7:30 - 6:00 but started waking three/four times. If it's before 1 DH goes in to calm him. Sometimes that means patting his back, flipping him on his belly, or rocking him. If he's crying for more than a few minutes I come to feed him.
After about a week DS wakes up only once around 4/4:30 and then sleeps until 7:30.
Tl;dr - gently weaning down to one feeding gave him a much better quality of sleep but he still wakes once
