Depressing trip to Destination Maternity

I woke up this morning and my upper back was killing me. I went to DM to find a bra to sleep in and none of them fit, not even the sports bras. Apparently, my bra size went from 36 DDD to 38 F and they don't carry an F cup with a 38 band. I tried on some E cups but I was spilling out of them (even the full coverage). We have a Soma store here and the manager suggested I try there. Ugh....I hate my boobs.

  • What about Lane Bryant? I'm sorry.

  • I went from an A to a D within weeks, and while I'm at aleast able to attempt to find bras in that size, I know the uncomfortableness of a huge shift in your body like that. I'm with you girl. Hope you find what you're looking for!
  • I'm right there with you. I went to motherhood maternity and grabbed the plus size bras. They kinda look like sports bras. I had to get a 2X. They aren't really pretty but they're quite comfy and are holding the girls up nicely.

  • Lane Bryant bras are expensive but SO worth the money.
  • I'm on team Lane Bryant. They have bras with no underwire that are comfy. And I'd say their bras are worth the money
  • I would suggest Nordstroms or possibly lane Bryant, I'm not for sure how high their cup sizes go. I do know nordstroms goes up to fs.

  • I will try Lane Bryant. The closest Nordstrom is in San Francisco (3 hours) but we have Nordstrom rack. I like to try on bras in person first then order online once I know they fit. I've had Wacoal bras and loved them but they're really expensive. I may even bump up to a G so I have room to grow.

  • I am normally a 36 DDD but can get up to an E and F when breastfeeding. I shop at lane Bryant for cute bras normally, but Macys had the best selection for larger nursing bras. Hope this helps :)!

  • I will also try going back to Macy's. I went there the first round of buying new bras about a month and a half ago. I had trouble finding a bra I liked in my budget there but I eventually found something. I will probably try the same brand I previously bought. It seems to work. On the bright side of my Destination Maternity outing is that I found a bra to sleep in. Thanks all!

  • I ended up with a 42F this weekend from lane Bryant. I was in a 38 DDD a few weeks ago. I cried a bit when the 40 G had spillage and opted to go up a band size for comfort. I will be checking out the nursing tank mentioned earlier

Nordstrom actually goes up way higher than that. They have sizes I had never even heard of.

I'm not surprised, but I went in there with my mom and that's what she got so I didn't want to put out information I couldn't confirm on.

Also, from my experience once you get into the sizes outside the norm there is no/ not a lot of option for "cheap" bras. Hopefully you find something that works for you! Bra shopping can be a pain and Im not always convinced that the sales people know how to properly fit.

For example my mom went to lane Bryant and was told she needed a 38 dd, but when she got home and showed me they didn't fit properly. So we went in to nordstroms and fitted her to a 38 f. She hates being in the larger cup size because she doesn't think she's that big, but I'm just like it fits so much better and it looks so much better.

    Hopefully you have better luck!

  • I have had the same problem with all my pregnancies. I'm squeezing into a DD and will keep trying until I find a cheap larger cup size. I can't see spending $40 or more on something I won't wear for the life of the bra. I went to motherhood when I was preggo with my first and had to shove those puppies into an F which was the largest they had. Since she was my first and I was staying at home, I went without more because it was more comfortable than the constant pressure especially when it came close to feeding time.
  • I was trying not to cry when I went to motherhood maternity to find a bra. She measure me at a 36f and said that don't have that size. I tried on the 38f instead and i was still oozing out. She said I would probably have to go to a specialty shop. But i saw that nordstroms have cute big boobed bras so I might check there but am trying to hold out until third tri because I'm afraid that they will grow again.

  • I was a 40h before being pregnant, and the elomi brand sold at Nordstrom is great.
  • 38H cup before pregnancy and am basically unable to deny the fact that I need to go bra shopping now!  I have my fingers crossed that my usual store has at least some moderately priced bras that will work.  I tend to stick to panache bras but some of the elomi ones work well for me too.

My biggest problem is that I've got super narrow shoulders so most bras tend to have their straps set too wide for them to stay up on shoulders without some McGyver work on my part.

My first trip in to Motherhood I actually laughed at the clerk when she suggested I look at bras.  When I told her my usual size she responded with "I'm glad you can laugh about it, we get a lot of women really upset when we don't have sizes".

  • Even DH (who is a TOTAL boob guy) is shocked at how much they've grown. They have also gotten heavier. It sucks that the bigger you go, the more expensive the bras get. Booooo.

  • I went on Saturday to get my 32Hs measured again. I go to a specialist bra shop here in UK anyway as I can't get my size anywhere.
I've been using bra extenders at the back for a while now so know my back size had gone up due to rib expansion. Then my cuppage went up and I was in pain. My poor nipples were so squashed but being a big busted girl I need support.
So £74 later, I bought the same bra (it's not a maternity bra but underwired but comfy) but in a different colour to I had last time but got fitted as a 36I. Yes I said an I. FML.
Stop growing! I'm only 5"5 and petite build. I'm like Dolly Parton. DH thinks it's great. My back ache doesn't.
I now call them my iBoobs ;) gotta laugh or I'll cry.

The bra is made by PrimaDonna but not sure if they have shops /sellers in the states. Seems to be in Europe
