J13 2.0 is here!

I started having contractions Tuesday night, but they were pretty far apart. I actually got a night's sleep after that. When I woke up in the morning, I was feeling pretty crampy like I usually feel at the end of the day. I got ready and dropped DD off at daycare. It was a rainy morning which is a super rare occurrence here. I had several contractions while I was driving. They were 6-7:30 apart with a couple 12-14. I called DH around 7:15 to tell him I might not be able to make it. After I got to work, I called the doctor. She told me to head on in. With the weather and morning traffic, it would be better to start making the trek rather than waiting. H picked me up, and we got to the hospital at 9:15. I was between a 3-4. I walked around for awhile and progressed to a 4. My contractions started to fizzle. The nurse decided to send me for one more round of walking. I started to feel a little more activity but not a ton. I thought we were going to get sent home. At 12:45 I was standing at the nurse's station telling her we were back from our hour's worth of laps, H was in the bathroom, and my water broke while I was standing there.
Me: Come on, doesn't this happen all the time?
Nurse: Nope. I've never seen anyone rupture at the Nurse's Station before. We had a good laugh, and H was pretty surprised when he got back from the bathroom.

Things really picked up after that. I was ready for the epidural within 30 minutes. We were moved to an active labor room and the epidural was placed by about 2 (from what I remember). I was dilated to an 8 at my first check after the epi kicked in. At about 3, I started to feel some intense contractions again. I was going to wait 5 more minutes before ringing the nurse, but changed my mind because I was really starting to feel them again. The nurse checked me at 4:05, and I was complete. She called the doc , and she was there pretty quickly. I pushed 1 and 1/2 times, and out came our lil princess at 4:32. I still can't believe how quickly it all happened. She was 6 lbs 9 ounces and 20 inches.

We were moved to our PP room within the hour because the labor wing has been crazy busy. On August 13 they had 22 deliveries. All of the nurses were talking about how this is the busiest they've ever seen it.
