Re: GTKY (August 15)
1. My favorite room in my house (dream home) would be painted a soft blue. There would be discreet speakers that played water sounds all day. There would be a chaise lounge that perfectly molded my body and a bookshelf with all my favorite books, my kindle, and someone to hand me cafe vanilla fraps from starbucks when I sit down to read.....ahhh I can just see it now
">
2. My favorite vacation was a trip to Vegas for my honeymoon/birthday with my DW. We stayed in a hotel off the strip, ate at all the best buffets, and gambled every night. It was great to get away for a couple days and just be with her, touring the city and finding interesting places off the strip.
3. This weekend, I will be taking my DW to see that movie Tammy and on Sunday we will be going to the Water and Air show in Chicago where I scored some VIP tickets through my command to meet the pilots of the Blue Angels....super stoked to see the planes!!!
I dream of having a large kitchen. Tall ceilings, and island in the middle for cooking and prepping food. A big reclaimed wood table with benches for everyone to sit and eat together.
2. Tell us about your favorite vacation!
My favorite vacation as a kid was when we used to go to the ocean. It was fun and full of adventure. As an adult, we went to Gulf Shores last year and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation ever!!! We ate, drank, laid on the beach and were so lazy... It was AMAZING!!!
3. What's up for the weekend?
We are heading to Asheville, NC to stay with some friends for the weekend. It has been a really great drive so far...we love road trips!

1. I have a dream for the perfect master bathroom... maybe in our forever home! Here is what it would look like: Huge garden soaking tub; Large separate tile shower with built-in bench, rain shower head and body jets!; double sinks and lots of counter space; heated porcelain tile floors; a wall-mounted towel warmer.... oh and the toilet in it's own little separate cubby area with a door. Aaaaaand, two ridiculously large hers & hers walk-in closets adjacent to this bathroom. A girl can dream!
2. Our honeymoon was awesome, BUT I think I have to pick a 10-day Caribbean cruise that we took 3 years ago. It was the longest vacation that we had taken together up to that point, and it was sooooo needed. It was my grad school graduation present to myself (and my wife!). The cruise stopped in Bermuda, St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Puerto Rico. We went parasailing in St. Thomas, horse back riding in Puerto Rico... it was just awesome.
3. Tomorrow we are going to bum around in PJs in the morning, then go out to lunch and then to the grocery store to do our family shop for next week (I don't know why I love going to the grocery store the three of us so much, but I really do -- it just makes me feel like we are such a little family! HAHA).... then tomorrow afternoon my wife is going to sand and paint over a spackle job in Will's room that I totally butchered last weekend - woops! Will and I will probably hang out with her and play DJ to some fun painting tunes while she fixes my mess. Sunday my in laws and my brother-in-law and his wife are coming over for brunch. I am making a quiche (never tried that before!) and some other assorted brunch goodies. That's about all we have planned at this point...
Bonus PIPs -- here are two pics from the cruise I mentioned. The first is us parasailing (yes, I screamed as much as it looks like I did - I swear that was scarier than child birth!), and the second pic is just my wife and I hanging out on the top deck of the ship as we were departing on the first day. It really was a great trip!

Pick your favorite room in your house (or the room you wish you had in your house) and tell us what your dream room looks like or would look like! My favorite room in our house is the kitchen. My dream would be to have fully equipped outdoor kitchen complete with a wood burning oven!
2. Tell us about your favorite vacation! My favorite vacation was our trips to Kona growing up. My grandparents had a condo at the time with a balcony set over the water where we would watch whales and dolphins. For breakfast, we could go to the farmers market and make huge tropical fruit salads to have with waffles and coconut syrup. I cannot wait to go back!
3. What's up for the weekend? My wife has been in major nesting mode so our weekend will consist of dropping off donation boxes and furniture we no longer want, need etc as well as several trips to dog beach and some relaxing in between.

2. I've taken several incredible vacations, but the one that always comes to mind is the trip to NYC that z and I took the year before Ash was born. It was several months after we lost our first baby, but before we started TTC again. The months leading up to the trip were emotionally devastating and the trip really was a treat for me. We did all the touristy things and are our weight in nyc's vegan fare. It was exactly what we needed at the time.
3. Tonight was nacho night! Nursing the LO to sleep right now. Maybe some Orphan Black or Project Runway in bed later. I need to do a little work tomorrow, then swim lesson and getting together with my mommy friend (met in childbirth class, then again in a postpartum group - she's turned into a wonderful friend) sans babies for afternoon coffee - or maybe even a cocktail! Baby shower on Sunday and otherwise cooking and prepping for the week to come.
Happy Friday!
2. My favorite vacation has been my honeymoon. We went to Pompano Beach, FL and had the most adorable beachfront condo that we rarely left because we spent the whole time cuddling and watching Bones and CSI. (Seriously lame, I know!)
3. This weekend will consist of my Statistics final exam and Charlotte's Pride festival and parade. LeAnn Rimes is performing and hers was my very first CD ever so I kinda want to be crazy fan and have her autograph it. Yes, I still have my very first CD because I'm a little bit of a hoarder.
2. We love traveling so it's hard to chose. But I'd say our last minute whirlwind trip to Europe was fun. We decided to take the vacation on a Friday afternoon and were off to the airport Monday early am. We flew from San Francisco into London, then onto Venice, Barcelona, Paris and Cologne with a stop over in Vancouver on the way back. If I remember correctly it was 10ish crazy days. But even with an itinerary and hotel reservations thrown together in a couple of days it turned out to be amazingly memorable. This was in 2006. Wow- time flies!!!
Pip- Venice bike rides, EV and I in Venice
3. No idea about this weekend yet? My parents leave Monday so we'll likely see them a couple of times. Tomorrow we'll probably head to the gym. Sunday is an open book.
2. The only vacation J and I have taken alone is our trip to FL and Disney in 2010.... I had never been to Disney so she wanted to take me. Then we went to Daytona for a couple of days because I wanted to go to the beach (it was nice but it was also in December and that year happened to be the coldest Dec in years so we couldn't exactly enjoy the beach) BUT it was also very memorable because while we were watching the sunrise the first morning there, she proposed.... Completely unexpected
3. J made plans for us to meet one of her friends (who she used to work with but who has since gotten another job) for dinner.... So we are taking Santana to the dog park this AM to run around and tire herself out.... Then we are going to spend the afternoon hanging around Indy before meeting her friend and friends husband for dinner.... Sunday we will probably be lazy around the house
1.My favorite room in our house isn't even started yet but it will out nursery when we get prenant/have a baby. I don't even have a particular theme yet, but since I am not carrying first it will be my project and a secret and surprise from my wife. Side note: I am really bad at keep secrets from my wife and her family does not find out genders and my side of the family does so this is going to be the biggest and hardest thing I'll ever have to do when it happens of course
2.My favorite vacation was not my favorite vacation. Let me explain...it was our honeymoon. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas and since I was a teacher we waited to go in December over my break. Well, I was getting over the flu and I had just given L (my wife) the flu. We weren't in the best of moods let's just say. It seemed all we did was sleep and order room service. It was a 7 day cruise and I think we got off the boat only twice. One of those times though we went to swim with dolphins and it was such a cool experience. I still remember the look on L's face when Coral (the dolphin she swam with) kissed her. It was awesome.
3. Now that it's Sunday I almost feel like I'm cheating but... We got up and went to World Market Saturday morning and exchanged a chair, then went a bought a new sofa. We had to buy L's boss an anniversary present because we went to their house for a Cuban themed anniversary party yesterday. It was pretty interesting-- no kids; just pets and adults! After that we trekked the 40 minutes to Ikea and then came home. Tomorrow L is getting her haircut and finishing up our headboard and I am cleaning the house. I go back to work on Tuesday and have to take the car to the dealership for maintenance....on Monday...not looking forward to that!
2. Ok, this is sad to say and don't tell J, but my very first trip to Europe would be my favorite vacation just because it opened my eyes to the world and changed my view of things a lot! It was with my first girlfriend when I was 26. Second, was my first trip to Asia - Thailand - now THAT opened my eyes! I had no idea what poverty was until then (I had a friend living there, stayed with 'real people' and was not on a tourist path so much). Last though, J's 40th birthday trip to Maui was our first time there and we had a stellar time and have gone back many times now!
3. Well, I'm cheating too since it's already Sunday but...Saturday my MIL arrived so she said "ok you can have the baby now" - I went to acupuncture and prenatal yoga and was FINALLY the most pregnant person at class (39w3d) - on Wednesday, there were 4 people and two were more pregnant than me!! So after going to yoga since 6w it finally happened. Hehe. Otherwise, we're just staying distracted and busy. Today I'm going to prenatal yoga, maybe walking around Greenlake with my sister and just trying to shake this baby out before her eviction... 8 p.m. PST on Tuesday night they start our induction! YIKES! We have one more doctor appt. in the morning and my last NST!

2. L and I haven't really vacationed much outside of visiting family, me tagging along to conferences she was attending, or a long weekend here or there (pre-kids.) It is one of my biggest regrets - though we were both in school most of our time pre-kids and it was hard to travel. During childhood, it was going to Maine, where my grandparents had a cottage on a lake.
3. It was a good weekend hanging out with friends, doing a lot of walking, grilling out, and reading.
I'm really hoping that once we get pregnant we can manage to somehow take a vacation just to two of us again!
