Let's play "How Messy is Your House?"

Please describe in detail how messy/dirty/revolting your house/condo/apartment is currently in order to make me feel better about the current state of mine.

I mean, I have tumbleweeds of cat hair rolling down my halls. But I'm. So. Tired. Pregnancy, man, right?

Re: Let's play "How Messy is Your House?"

  • I've been away for 10 days. We left the house in disarray from packing and working and toddler. Our 2 dogs have been taken care of by a neighbor all week. As much as I want to be home, I so badly do not want to discover what my house looks like.

  • Eh, clean house isn't knocking on my door or anything and I think my sink is free of dishes, but I'm in no place to entertain guests. The living room needs vacuuming, the hardwoods need mopping, and I have an Everest of laundry in the master that needs to be put away. It's at about the limit. Of what I can stand, but I am so tired.

  • PS- whatever the state of the house is, it may not be rectified until at least October when I have a day off in 2nd tri. DH goes back to school tomorrow and all I want to do is take a nap!

  • Piles of dirty dishes to do, dirty laundry is falling out of the hamper and I haven't vacuumed in a few weeks... My husband thinks our house looks fine. It's killing me, but I have no energy to clean.
  • If dh was more picky, I would probably find the energy to clean more. But he sees nothing wrong with the state of our house, so I nap instead of clean.

  • This last week my husband was away for army stuff and I lounged around and didn't do any dishes, laundry, or any cleaning for that matter until the day he was coming home and it was spottless(i normally always have a clean house) then he walked in with all his dirty, nasty, stinky unwashed clothes and they are now soaking in the kitchen sink and bathtub, clothes and dirt is all over the living room and kitchen.

I walked in and he was playin video games, I glared at him and he knew what I was thinking instantly! I walked towards the bed room and said "I'm taking a nap, it better be cleaned up when I wake up" and he just laughed and smiled....

We both know it'll be there when I get up...
  • Not as dirty as one of those febreze commercials but it's getting there, lol.
  • Theres a huge pile of clothes next to the bed, laundry needs to be done, dishes need to be done and theres an inch of dust on all surfaces. The 1 1/2 hour nap i took today was soooo worth it though!

  • In a house full of 1 hubby, 3 dogs, 2 teenagers, and a visiting house guest..I've truly given up this week. I've given into the tiredness...either everyone will notice the mess and surprise me with a clean house (yeah right!!) or it's just gonna have to wait till sometime in October..
  • I'm like one clean pair of underwear away from running out... and I have a lot of underwear. I REALLY need to do laundry. The rest of our house isn't too bad, thankfully. DH has been pitching in more than usual, and I managed to work up enough energy to clean the kitchen last night.

  • My house WAS disgusting but I've dedicated my day in between naps to cleaning it. However, I still haven't swept up the huge dog hair balls that gather around the edges of my hardwood floor. And my laundry is getting out of control.

  • Baby toys everywhere and 2 bathrooms need a major overhaul! My Husband does everything ...I want to help but my energy level is low.

  • The old food in the fridge has started to organize a revolution, the bathroom is beginning to resemble something that belongs in a bus station, the dust bunnies now have several warrens, but the laundry is clean (uh, but not folded)!

  • Well I "did" the laundry but its now 5 baskets deep throughout the house.  I am pretty sure there is a kitchen counter somewhere around here.  I did mow the lawn yesterday.  I am pretty sure one of the bedrooms still has an air mattress half blown up from people staying here 2 weeks ago (along with piles of boxes that are still not unpacked from when we moved….in December); did I mention at some point its all gotta go because it'll be the kids room?  I ran the dish washer this AM but there are so many dishes both sides of my sink are still full.

  • There isn't a single clean surface anywhere to be found in our home, this includes the front porch. DH did clean the cat little boxes and the ferret cage today though.(not our ferrets, we're ferret sitting)
He's currently working until 10pm so I will have me some chillax and downtime then I will clean the entire house in probably 2-3 hours before he get's home.

It will be glorious to sleep on clean sheets tonight!

I love that dh has to do the cat shit now. He does the laundry (except he doesn't fold any of my stuff, dd's stuff, or any linens) and the cat shit. That's it. I need to hire someone.

In his defense, he folds sheets and towels all wrong and he hates me telling him that he did it wrong. He has no excuse on dd's clothes though

DH didn't believe me that he needed to clean the cat box now.  Apparently, he spent half his day at work looking this up and came home with every chemical name in the book for bad things that could happen if I got near the cat box.

  • We have a husky and she's blowing her coat. There is dog hair all over the place. I cleaned on Friday but I can't keep up with the dog hair right now.
  • My floors and counters need a good scrub but other than that it's clean. But that is only because my mom was here for two week and cleaned my house and now DH is home for a week so he's been cleaning. I may have taught my toddler to swiffer the floors.

  • Do you want pictures? Lol.

Laundry and dirty dishes are unfortunately a norm in this household. I've done 4 loads today, and just starting to see the bottom of the dirty laundry basket.

What's bad is our sunroom, which my 5-year-old and 3-year-old use as their playroom. My son repeatedly dumps out the toy baskets multiple times a day, or his train box, leaving tiny little toys all over the floor. They also eat in there at a little table, and there is the constant presence of crumbs, half-rotten apple cores thrown under furniture, raisins ground into the grout of our tile floor under the little table.. yeah, it's bad. If you don't have small children already, just get used to the mess. I'm happy that I can at least contain it to one room most of the time.

  • I have dog tumbleweed a going down my hall, as well! My toddler has had free reign this weekend because I am too sick and tired to deal with picking up after him. It looks like a tornado hit my entire house.

This is fantastic question.  If you ever find the answer, let me know.  He will take a load of towels out of the dryer, onto the floor, dry his own load of clothes, and stick the towels back in the dryer.  As if he doesn't use towels...it's baffeling.

  • Let's see...the laundry is near finished, with the exception of two loads that need to be folded. I have dirty dishes in the sink, and clean ones in the dishwasher, but that's as far as that got today. We moved in here about 2 weeks ago, and there are still boxes everywhere! Top if off, MIL and BIL are coming to visit this weekend...hope my husband finds some motivation somewhere because mine has definitely run away!

  • Let me preface this by saying I am a clean freak. I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm OCD, but pretty damn close.

My closet collapsed, and now my tons and tons of clothes are in heaps all over my living room. It is making me crazy!!!! My procrastinator of a BF has yet to fix it. I need to step up my level of bitching.
  • DD toys everywhere, and her cousin was over playing so toys she never played with before are also strewn about.  My sister came to town this weekend and invited 34 friends to come hang at my house...  yes... 34...  So now there is alcohol I can't drink in my fridge, blue crab shells in my trash... and random cups/plates from my front door all the way to the back door.

  • I'm pretty sure all of our houses are pretty clean unless we have roaches doing the nasty on our floors.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. Last thing I feel like doing is cleaning. My floors are really gross. Dishes are dirty. Normally I do laundry on Sundays but that went in the f it pile yesterday. Had some friends come over Sat to watch outlander and my gf said my house looked great. Oh how I love that lady, even if she is a liar!!! Lol
  • When I feel like my house is really bad, I watch old reruns of Hoarders or Clean House.  Then I feel like Martha freaking Stewart and realize that my house is just fine.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • My vacuum is broken and we have sent it in to Dyson for the third time now. Our carpet and dog fur piles haven't been adequately vacuumed in about two months now. I am getting so frustrated!!!
  • Ummm my house is pristine: rookie mistake was to complete two hours of upkeep yesterday as if it was just a plain ol' day, only to wind up sweaty, nauseous and exhausted. I've learned my lesson, this won't be happening again. I am looking forward to animal fur tumbleweeds, sticky bathroom counters, and leaving my weight in dirty laundry on the floor because I'm just too exhausted to put it in the bin for the next eight months. Solidarity!
  • Ugh. I finally had to do dishes after I realized I had no more clean dishes to eat from or cook with. My husband swears he's pregnant, too. That must be why he's feeling so tired. Lol.
  • My house is always a mess when my mom is here babysitting. I guess that's what 3 kids does to a woman. I like things in it's place but I'm guessing when this second comes along... I'm gonna have to just ignore the junk!
