Sleep advice please

dd is 2.5, and has been a great sleeper since we sleep trained at 9 months. Suddenly, she cries at bedtime as soon as I leave the room. We talk and talk about not needing to cry, mommy's asleep in her bed and right here all night (she woke up from a nap a few months ago and I wasn't back from the store yet and she flipped out), same exact bedtime routine, etc. If I ask her why she cries she says because she doesn't want me to go downstairs, and has said she wants her bed to be downstairs.

When she stays at my ILs, she sleeps in a pack n play in their room, and we she stays at my parents' they are all on one floor, so I don't know if she's just latching on to that? I have also been sick with a lupus flare lately, so she's stayed with my parents a lot and I'm sure the transition home is part of it.

Any ideas? Do I just need to let her cry it out? I hate that, but do feel like she's playing me.

Sorry, tl; dr - my kid cries at night and ain't nobody got time for that!

    I usually go back in once, rub her back for a few more minutes...this often results in a request to go potty - I know, major fail.

    Oh, and once I do that she usually still cries when I leave again and I usually end up letting her cry it out. Sometimes that's 3 minutes, sometimes longer but just calling for me and whining, not really crying.

    DS randomly goes back to bad, bad bedtimes from time to time and we always end up having to basically cry it out again. We'll lay with him for a few minutes, then sit at the edge of the bed for a few minutes, then just leave. It sucks, but it usually resolves itself in a night. Until he starts up again, of course, but that's not very often.
