Any moms expecting a baby with CDH?

We found out a couple of weeks ago at our 20 week anatomy scan that our baby has a congenital diaphragmatic hernia.  I know that not every baby is perfect but we thought ours would be!  It's been a rough road so far, especially since this is our first baby.  Now having to transfer to a new high risk OB and meet all kinds of surgeons and specialists.  Just wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing - would love to hear your story and connect!

  • On the same boat, not CDH but we were told that our LO has some defects as well. All tests came back negative such as blood and amniocentesis. Therefore, we are praying for the best. It is stressful having to meet with high risk OB, etc. Prayers for you and all of us moms on the same boat!

  • Our first son was born with undiagnosed CDH. First of all, let me say I'm sorry you're dealing with this. But let me also tell you to take this time to prepare, something I wish we had been able to do. There is an awesome support, research, awareness group that will send you some information... go to www.cherubs-cdh.org I think you just sign up on their forums and they send it to you, I know I wasn't expecting it when we got it. Enjoy your pregnancy and enjoy baby once he/she is here. :)
  • No experience but T&P. I hope all goes well.

  • Thanks guys.  Yea, no syndromes or disease and the heart is healthy according to the fetal echo, so it's an isolated incident.  Just a fluke - just bad luck.  With only the intestines up in the chest we're hopeful the surgery after he's born will be successful and he'll live a totally normal life!  Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
