What temp do you keep it where LO sleeps?

DH and I keep arguing about this. He wants to keep the thermostat at 78 in the summer. I think this is way too hot, so we've got it down to 76. He still wants to put LO in a lightweight sleeper and cotton sleepsack, but I think she's too hot at night, which is contributing to her not sleeping well.

I want to know which one of us is crazy, so how warm do you keep it where LO sleeps in the summer?

ETA: We do have a ceiling fan in her room, which makes it feel a little cooler...

  • 70 is here. We like it cool when we sleep.

  • We keep the thermostat set at 74, but it is definitely not that temperature upstairs. Our monitor tells the temp in her room, and it usually varies between 77-79 :( I wish I could get it cooler upstairs but it just costs too much right now to turn the thermostat down much lower. I'm looking forward to fall!

  • We keep it at 78 and the baby sleeps in a onesie only. +1 here that can't wait for fall!
  • Our thermostat is set at 76, although the bedrooms run a little cooler. DD sleeps in a lightweight sleeper, and seems plenty comfy. In the winter we will drop it to 68-72, and we will probably just use a fleece sleeper. She has never slept in sacks/gowns, so I'm not sure how she would do in them, although we do have a few.

Our Angel was born sleeping at 20 weeks due to IC.

  • We have a wall unit A/C in the living room. (We live in an apartment). So it doesn't typically reach the bedroom even if I've had it on all day. I just turn the fan on at night and open up the windows. I can't wait for Fall either.
  • Our A/C would be a FORTUNE if we kept it below 76.  We have a large-ish house and live in an area where it's above 90 every day.  78 sounds a little on the warm side, but not dangerously so.  I say put it at 76 for a week.  If she sleeps better, leave it there.  And yes, counting down until fall here!

  • If it's really hot we turn on the AC so that it stays below 79, but otherwise we go by the whims of the weather. DD sleeps in a onesie with a fan.

  • 75/76 at our house. LO sleeps in a light sleeper and a cotton sleep sack. We used to just put him in a sleeper but he seemed to be getting really cool at night. He sleeps better when he's a little warmer.

  • We aren't using any a/c at the moment. We got new windows installed and it's been cool enough at night to just leave windows open. It starts at 74 upstairs and by morning it's 68. It's hard to dress her because it feels a little warm to have her in long pj's but by morning she'll be cold!

Interesting! I'll be happy to tell him that most people keep it cooler, but unfortunately that won't change his mind! He already thinks we're wasting enough money as it is. I can't wait for fall either!

We're going to try just a sleeper, but I think we need to turn down the fan for that.

At least we aren't living with his parents anymore! Last summer/fall when I was pregnant they had the temp set to 80. I would complain all the time about being hot, so sometimes I'd get it to like 75 but then I'd feel guilty because they'd all wear sweaters all day. But I digress...

  • We either run the AC or open up the windows and try and keep it at 77ish at night. We have celing fans in all the rooms so it feels a little cooler. LO sleeps in cotton footsie jammies and that's it.
  • LO just sleeps in her diaper at night on warm nights or days. We have an AC unit for our room, but don't use it. Right now it's 55 outside and two box fans on opposite sides of the house is keeping the house cool enough.
