We tried with my DD. We called her by a nickname and never by her name. By age 1 she wouldn't look at anyone if they called her the nickname (Which was Mandy). By age 1.5 she was verbally correcting people, telling them "I Mawfa!"
Nicknames most often happen organically and may change as she gets older.
The name may be given by someone other than you, too. My sister named her last son Kohlman. His sister, two at the time, dubbed him Kohl-Kohl. We all still call him this. He's 10 years old now. At school, he's Kohl. My sister always planned for him to be called Kohlman.
That said, Tallie is cute. I love the name Natalie and the name Elizabeth (my middle name!). They are pretty together.
We call my friend Nat. And I agree, nicknames just sort of happen. I thought my daughter, Audrey, would have no nickname but she is called Audge. Yeah, never would have guessed that but it stuck.

"Nat" is the only nickname that seems to fit with Natalie. I'm not always fond of nicknames. I call my second daughter Eve/Evey at times, but still like to use her actual name. Her peers and teacher call her Evangeline.

I grew up with a girl named Natalie who only went by Tally. Its cute. I also have a friend who goes by Nat which is less cute sounding, but its the only name we use for her.
My cousin is Natalie and we call her Natitude and Natty Patty and Natty Boh ( after the beer). But she's 20. I agree with PP that NNs just sort of come about on their own. None of us ever thought about calling her those nicknames before we did. . Beautiful name though! I like Natalie.

I would call her "Natalie"
The nicknames will come naturally once she's here and as she gets older, her friends will probably nickname her something else.
Personally, I really like Natalie (on my list, DH doesn't like it) and so I'd call her just that. But other ideas might be Tally, Talia, Nat, Natty..
