I found out on dd1's 6th birthday. I left the pee stick on the counter in the bathroom and asked H to go get something for me from there. Then I followed him in and waited for him to see it.
When my BFF came over for the party I told her and showed her. I also told my favorite SIL that day as well as MIL.
I told my own mom over the phone a couple weeks later. She does not know that MIL knew before her. And yes, she was at the birthday party too.
For my husband I was waiting for a phone call from my RE to give me the okay to start my ivf meds. Instead, I got the call that I was pregnant! My hubby was at work and I knew it'd be a shock. I went and bought a card and wrote "we're pregnant!" in it. I recorded his reaction which included a lot of "get the fuck out of here" and "no way!"
For our parents, we waited for valentines day. We went out to dinner with my mil and fil and wrapped a bib that said "thank heavens for grandma's" in a little jewelry box. My mil knew immediately what it was when she saw the bib material and closed the box and said "omg, my heart!" We went to my mom's with an ice cream cake afterwards. My mother also got a bib under some other gifts. One of the other gifts was a CD that she kept going on and on about. When she finally got to the bib she was like "noooo" and held it up to her face and cried. :x
How I told DH: "Do you see a line here?" DH "No. I am going back to bed."
How I told my parents: I was only 4 weeks pregnant and we were going to our weekly Thursday night dinner. I knew they were going to know something was up because I always drank wine. So I told them and they were so excited. My sister and BIL came later. I said to my sister, "I am drinking water" and she said "Yay!"
H: I took the test when we got home from our Valentine's trip. I was in shock and wasn't sure if there was a line. He was on the phone and I waited non patiently for him to get off the phone. He came inside and I made him go to the bathroom and I asked if he saw 2 lines. He said yes now what does that mean. I gave him the look and he hugged me and was so happy!
Everyone else: my parents we told right away I was close to 6 weeks when I found out. The next day I told my mom because she is also my boss at work and of course I needed off for my drs appt. we told my step dad and brother and SIL a few days later when we had my brothers bday dinner. My stepdad cried!
Stepmom in law and FIL we gave a onesie. FIL caught on right away but it took her a minute to read it and get it. My dad and stepmom we waited because they lived out of town and my dad has been begging for a grand baby. We went to visit them for the weekend and when they asked what all we had been up too and what was going on I said oh just dr appts. They asked if anything was wrong and I said well not really just having a baby. My dad freaked!
Oh man it was Presidents' Day and we were living with my parents saving for a house. My mom and dad had a rule that we couldn't sleep in the same room or bed (lol I feel like such a loser writing that) but whatever, we weren't married and it was free rent. Anyways, I went downstairs and said I'm going to take a test, and I did and there were two lines and I immediately freaked out. He's like ok take the other one, so I did, and that was that. He was ok and excited I was hyperventilating.
The next night we told my parents. I say down and said mom I have to tell you something and she's all "your pregnant" and I'm like no Kyle is. Haha they were shocked and mad for a second but mostly excited, which made me happy because they were supportive.
I texted my SIL and said hi auntie Elisa! And she's like hey auntie Cara? I'm like what's uncle joe doing? She really had no idea why I was calling them that, so I finally called her and told her we were pregnant! She cried! Lol
@carawasa my mom had a no sleepover rule, even when we were engaged (and had been together 8 or 9 years). After playing the "oh we fell asleep" card way too many times, she finally gave up.
We waited til April, shortly after FIL's bday when we saw them in person. So we wrapped a picture frame that said "blank + blank = blank" and put a picture of me, one of DH, and then the ultrasound photo. So we gathered everyone in the living room and gave FIL the frame to open and he did and said, "wow! That is a good present!" Then he set it down and came and gave us hugs...but didn't show anyone else! We were like, "um, care to share?" And he said, "oh! I assumed everyone else knew!" So finally he showed MIL, BIL, and GMIL and there was much crying. We told SIL later that day with a cousins frame for our niece.
I waited until DH was on the toilet. He wasn't excited. I now know it was because he was so nervous after our previous loss. Waited until 14 weeks to tell anyone else. We were planning to tell everyone at the same time at my birthday dinner at 12 weeks, but dh's family flaked out and didn't show.
Handed FIL ultrasound pic and said here's your grandchild. He cried.
Gave SIL a big plastic Easter egg with the pic inside that said we're egg-specting. She was excited.
I told my grandma (my only living grandparent) and she was excited. She said she thought I would never have children. She had a huge smile on her face. We usually don't see that side of my family often. I made DH go there for Christmas and I'm glad I did because my grandma passed in March.
@missgpsu No judgment here about your H. When I was pregnant, DH kept telling everyone that he hopes I give birth to a 13 year old boy, so he can mow the lawn. He beyond adores DD now.
We were IVF so DH was sitting next to me when the RE called with the blood rest results.
We didn't tell anyone until our ultrasound, which was also when we found twins. We bought a new car so went to my parents house and said "we have news!" and then told them about the car. The excitement and subsequent disappointment was hilarious! We let them think that was it and then we said "actually, we need the new car bc were pregnant!" Freak out ensued. Then, later still, we mentioned my parents buying our crib (which they've said from the beginning they would do) and asked if they would buy two. More freaking out. It's fun to mess with my parents! We did a similar thing for my in laws.
My dad and stepmom knew already bc I cracked before the transfer. We did get to surprise them with the twin part though.
@missgpsu I think it's hard for most men to connect to a pregnant belly. DH would be excited at all the ultrasounds, but didn't get excited until he could actually hold her.
It's funny because when he would hold her when she was little, he felt weird talking to her so he'd sing, "Shake your butt, shake your butt" all the time. Now when we sing it, she dances. I always told him to talk to her because she knew his voice from before she was born and it would calm her.
I peed on a stick without telling DH because I wanted to do something sweet and cute if I was. Then I saw the two lines, got so excited, I ran across the apartment, jumped on him, and shrieked "I"m pregnant!" He was like, "no shit?" Ha. Then was excited. Not exactly the plan I had to reveal.
For my parentd I put DD in a big sister shirt. My dad originally thought it was just a hand me down for DH's siblings. My mom saw it and started crying. We told DH's family on Easter. We had passed out eggs filled with candy and a slip of paper saying Rileigh was going to be a big sister.
DH had to get up early for work so I had gotten up with him and poas just to see. We had recently been through a m/c and we were but weren't trying. I thought I saw a faint line on a cheapie but wasn't sure so I took it to show DH. He was like yep there's a line. I think with just going through the ?/c we were excited inside but nervous. After he left I went back to sleep when I woke up I took another test. Lol
This is how I told my best friend . I love watching her pure elation for us. I LITrally peed on a stick, told DH, and then drove over to her house immediately.
And my Dad I told by painting a cup saying"Hey Old Man" which is what he's always joked he wanted to be called. He instantly knew what we were telling him when he opened it.
We weren't trying, but I'd been feeling pregnant symptoms for about a week and procrastinating taking a test. MH told me that my boobs felt bigger one morning so I said "well it's probably bc I'm pregnant." Then I left for work . He had an interview and was freeeaking out all day till he got home and made me take a test. Positive within .2 seconds of peeing.
We wanted to wait to tell my family until after my brothers wedding (so as not to steal thunder), but when I didn't drink at the wedding everyone guessed anyways...
I peed on a stick while comcast was fixing something in our house. We had just gone off birth control the month before, so I was in total shock. I didn't want to tell dh while comcast was here, so it was the longest wait ever. I was having a mild panic attack and went to the kitchen to get water. My hands we're shaking do bad that I dropped the glass all over the floor. Dh was clueless. He was watching tv and not paying attention. FINALLY, comcast left and I told him to come in the room and sit down. I proceeded to sit down and he saw the stick. He was so excited and I was panicking and shaking.
Complete opposite of what we thought our reactions would be!
I drew a little foot and wrote "hi daddy" on my belly with eyeliner and showed it to DH. He said, "you're pregnant? really??"
Then 2 seconds later asked how I knew the baby was on that side of my belly (because I drew the foot on the right side). Ummm, I'm just right handed so it was easier...
It was a Saturday. I'd taken a test on Friday and the lines were really really faint, and I wasn't sure they were there. So sat. I took one without telling h and came to the kitchen and said "um I think I'm pregnant again"
H told my bil the day we found out by saying hey I really f'd up, Kelly is due 10-1 (opening day of bow season). I told my sis the next week although I'm pretty sure my bil had already told her because she asked me if I'd been to the doc lately.
We told his mom at 12 weeks with a card that said thanks grandma for getting dad a phone, see you in September or October.
My parents and brother we just said I'm pregnant at 12 weeks
My sil and FIL we told by taking a picture of my nephew holding a 1, niece holding a two and then I put a 3 on an ultrasound picture from 12 weeks

We just told them when we got together one day. We did cute stuff with my first pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage so I was so worried/stressed I just told them.
I took a test while DH was at work, two days before Valentine's Day. I had a white onesie and iron on paper for a few months so I could make DS a shirt when it happened. It said "I'm going to be a big brother " I had DS greet DH when he came in the door and he said "really? Are you serious!?" He was so happy. A few days later, we sent out a picture of DS in his shirt to family.
I remember taking the test and looking at my just turned 11 month old daughter and thinking how! I gave a box to my H with tests in it to break the news. He was over the moon, as I was too but in shock.
As far as telling the family, I ordered a onsie for my daughter that said, "only child expiring October 2013." I went to my mother's as we did every Sunday but had my LO in Pj's still. I asked my mom to change LO for me. It took her a few minutes to register. We were able to have her reaction on video bc I told her I needed video footage of LO crawling. (She had just recently started crawling so made for a good excuse). I am glad we caught it on video bc her reaction was priceless!
I put DD in a big sister t shirt and waited about 15 minutes for DH to notice. I did the same with my parents. We had been trying so it wasn't a major surprise. DD was a surprise so I sort of blurted it out to DH and then started to cry. We had been together 5 years and were very serious, but weren't married and had no immediate plans for kids so I was scared he would freak out. Fortunately after the initial surprise, he was excited. I remember vividly going to fazoli's for dinner that night (why fazoli's?) and having a what the hell are we going to do talk.
DH was on a business trip when I found out we were having twins. He knew I was pregnant, but the twins were a shock. I called him when I left the doctors office and told him we were having twins and that they were identical twins. His response was: "nooooo - identical twins are creepy"
"Come play with us, Danny, for ever and ever and ever"
I bought a decorative card after 2 CP's in a row as a way to "secret"/stay positive about eventually getting pregnant, and wrote a note to DH in side saying "can't believe we made one". I gave it to him at like 6 AM on a Saturday (I took the test when I woke up having to pee at 4 AM). He made me POAS for him too after his initial shock wore off lol.
We told our parents at 10 weeks. I ordered a t shirt for the dog that said "guess what?" On the front and "I'm going to be a big brother"' on the back and he wore it when they came over for DH's birthday dinner. My parents noticed it right away, (they got to our house first) but DH actually had to point it out to his mom- seriously!? The fuck kind of standard golden doodle walks around in a t shirt lol.
I tested right after DH left for his 14 hour shift. I should have waited because it was excruciating lol. So when he got home at 6am I told him he was lucky to have a wife who loves him enough to wait so long without telling anyone she was pregnant. He looked at me like huh? Then got happy, but this was 2 months after our first BFP (mc) after trying for 2.5 years, so he was cautious. This is when we lived in Italy, so we told pparentsover Skype/phone. After our hcg levels came back and everything looked good, we told Facebook lol
I took the test by myself one night because I was feeling weird. For some reason, I thought if I cleaned the house before I told DH, he would feel less overwhelmed about having a baby. So, I tried for two days to clean up. Too bad I felt like garbage and couldn't muster up enough energy! I told him in a dirty house while sitting on the couch eating Red Barron french bread pizza. Not exactly a magical moment but it was kind of just right for us.
I showed a lot of restraint this time. Once I had the BFP I wanted to do something a little more than shoving the pee stick in DH's face (first two times) So I kept it secret for a few days until I had time to get to ACMoore and make big sister shirt for DD. Then I had her walk downstairs to DH. I hid around the corner until he figured out what her shirt said. It was fun. Told our parents and siblings at my nephew's Baptism, it was the first time we were seeing extended family.
I told DH that I was pregnant w DD on Valentines day ... He was shocked because I had just suffered my miscarriage in Nov. I think I gave him a card saying thank you.
This time around HE told ME I was pregnant ... I didn't believe him. He saw the 1st US but not the 2nd one where I found out there were twins ... I told him over the phone in the OBs office he said "your kidding right!!" As the nurses assistant was screaming "CONGRATUALTIONS!!! "
TODAY ... we find out what kind of twins they are and he is coming to the apt! I'm so nervous!
