So my diabetes doc is in the clinic one day/week. She's taken on more of an academic role. No biggie. I've been seeing the nurse practitioner throughout my pregnancy and she's done a great job.

Today is my ONLY appt with my doc for my pregnancy and she's running 60 MINUTES behind. It would have been really nice if they had called me so that I could've stayed at work an extra hour and not burned an hour of PTO. Why don't doctors office think of this shit?

That's pretty much the story of EVERY SINGLE FUCKING VISIT I have to my OB's office. They're usually running 60 minutes behind just on doing ultrasounds and then another hour to see the doctor.

Ugh, That blows. I went to my OB appt last week and when I checked in they told me he was running 45 minutes behind. My first thought was, why didn't you call me? I would have come later!

I just wish they would recognize that people have better things to do then sitting in a waiting room. I mean I get that shit happens but it'd be nice if they went that extra mile.

And I didn't bring a snack in and my car is 900 miles away. I'm lazy.

that would make me so mad too! I know it is common for doctor's office to charge patients a late fee if they are late to their appointments. We should be able to charge the doctor's office if they don't see us in a reasonable time

I work in a dental office so maybe they run things differently, but if we are more than 15 min late I ALWAYS call and give the patient a heads up, and offer to reschedule if they want. I don't want them to waste their time, plus it's super awkward having someone sit in our waiting room for longer than that. Sorry you are stuck there waiting!!

That is the worst ever. I've booked all my OB appointments until the end of October so I can get the 9AM slot. That way I'm one of the first people to see her in the morning and I get in right away. I would go bat shit crazy if I had to wait an hour or more - especially with no snacks!

Oh I agree. I don't expect the doc to call! You'd think they could send you a text or something!

I one time had an 8am appt (first of the day!) with my primary care. He was 20 minutes late. I WAS SO MAD.

When I say I am mad at the doctor for not calling, I mean the office--specifically his or her front desk peoples. I never expect the doctor to be making those calls, that'd just make them more late!

Sorry you are stuck there for an hour....that blows.

Of all my OB appointments so far this pregnancy, I had ONE where they actually took me back on time. All the rest, 3 different drs, 2 different offices......all at least 30 minutes behind schedule. They need to get their shit together.

That sucks

. Nothing worse than being "hangry" (I get the true meaning of that now that I'm pregnant) and being stuck in the waiting room that long. It should be common courtesy to let you know so you can plan accordingly, especially when it affects your PTO and job. I hope you didn't have to wait much longer!

Ugh, I feel you on this one, my doctor was an hour late for my visit earlier this week too. He was already running late to start then he got confused and went to the wrong room and saw the patient who was supposed to be after me first! By the time he came in the room I was starving and ready to throw something at him.

I'm actually really impressed with my dr office. I get in within 10 minutes of my appointment time, every time. I never expect to get in EXACTLY at the right time (clocks can be off, etc.). When I get into the room, I usually wait less than 5 minutes to see the doc, I think once it was closer to 15 minutes. That would drive me nuts if I was consistently waiting an hour -- I'd switch providers.

I would have been very upset myself. I would be surprised if anyone would call and let you know that. they would prefer you to wait on them instead of waiting you so "yes miss nacho lover I am calling from dr ob and we are running behind but we would like you to be here on time for us in case there is a cancellation or we get caught up." Ha that would be great if they let us know.
I waited in waiting room for an hour in Jan to see my pc and they never told me that double booked him. I was so angry that my pc was so bothered he stormed out and got on to the receptionist for not letting me know. I felt bad he was nice but told them it wasn't fair to me since I waited to see him and not someone else.
My ob has normally been on time. I hope it continues.

My OB has been pretty good so far.

Once I got in there, my endocrinologist did spend a lot of time answering my questions. I told my DH that she's so great in the exam room, I just wish her office was a bit more organized. I may change after I have the baby. Need to think about that more.
