Trouble TTC

Life's Cruel Ironies **baby mentioned**

So as I mentioned in comments on other posts a few days ago, my SIL had a baby on Wednesday, the first grandchild in my immediate family.  She didn't ahve a shower, and she and my brother don't need any help buying all the gear so I hadn't gotten them a gift.  But, since I'm going to visit soon to meet the baby, which will be tough enough, I've been looking online for gifts for them.  Here's where the cruel irony kicks in...thanks to the wonderful way technology monitors us, now all I see when I visit webpages from Facebook to CNN are ads for baby/maternity/child stuff.  I can't escape it...I think I'm going to have to delete the cookies from my browser and my browsing history and everything after I settle on a gift...to make matters worse I can't even drown my sorrows in wine tonight because I'm having bloodwork done in the morning I need to fast for (lipid panel, glucose tolerance).  So no alcohol OR chocolate! :(  DH is also gone for the night thanks to the wonderful National Guard...

Just wanted to share that frustration, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

  • God I hate how smart digital advertising is.  I work at an internet company and know that those ads can target you for up to 30 days after you stopped searching those terms.  You may want to go ahead and delete your cookies.  Or you can try doing LOTS of other searches for fun stuff so you start getting ads about cool stuff.

MH showed me that his Kindle Fire had a full-screen advertisement for formula with a mom and baby. He was like, where the heck did this come from? Can't imagine why, all he does is download manly games!

  • You should download ghostery for your browser. You can block all trackers and most ads. It's amazing. I'm sorry you had to put up with that.
