Exciting news: IP BFPs, dues dates, and goodbye

Hey all,

I have been away for more than a month and minimally active but lurking.  I called the clinic when I got back to see how my egg donation in early June went, and my second set of IPs are expecting!  Not only that, my first set of IPs were due about a week ago.  They don't check in immediately after birth (no surprises there) but all was well as of "this summer" so I am assuming they probably have a bouncing baby now, which makes me so happy.

The coordinator asked whether I saw this as my last donation and I said I did.  She said a cryo cycle is available if I change my mind in the future, we exchanged warm fuzzy feelings about the whole experience, and all was well.  I also said the exception was that if either of the families I already donated to wanted genetic siblings in the future, I would donate again for them--but apparently the first couple still has 20 embryos left and the second couple has 7, so that is not likely!  I wonder why it was so different--maybe these eggs just tango better with some sperm than others?

I also wanted to use this post to say goodbye.  The people on this board have inspired and motivated me.  I have come to care about your successes and setbacks as though I really knew you. Since I completed my final donation, I have not been very active on the board, and I am sure will become even less so now that I've heard the result and that chapter is really closing.  Page me if there are questions I can help with, or maybe I will see them.  I can't stop lurking on you yet.  My love to you all.

  • Being an egg donor is amazing and it takes someone truly special to give that gift to a family wanting to start/grow their family. I'm thrilled for you that both sets of IP seem to be well on the road to having their family. What a special thing to be a part of. Wishing you all the best!
