Reverse Cycling

I'm pretty sure P is trying to reverse cycle. She's sleeping all day while I'm gone and taking < 8 oz in 12 hours. Then she's nursing all night (we cosleep.) Anyone been through this? Advice?

I don't have any experience with this but is P taking the bottle ok? I think it may just be because she prefers nursing over the bottle? It might just take some time and adjusting to you going back to work. In the meantime I hope you can get some sleep.

Thanks cwhit. She's taking it.. Okay. She definitely prefers the boob, but is starting to understand that the bottle is her only option. It's only been 2 days, maybe I need to chill.

Is it possible the level of stimulation during the day has changed and she's getting her days and nights confused. I hope she figures it out and gets back on track.

I didn't have this happen, but could you ask the nanny to try and keep her awake more during the day? Hopefully if she has more awake time, she will also eat more. Is the nanny offering her the bottle at certain times? Good luck, mama!

I was going to talk to the nanny about trying to wake her up earlier and offer bottles more often. But I know I've heard that you should feed bf babies on demand, not on schedule. What age can you start trying a schedule? I would like to see her taking at least 3 ounces at 9, 12, and 3 since that's my pump schedule. She's currently sleeping till 11. Maybe start slowly with 10:30 for a few days, then 10, then 9:30, etc?

I always fed on demand when bfing, so I completely agree with you there. But once he went to daycare, I would let them know that he typically ate every 3 hours or so. Of course it changes and they would be flexible with that, but at least you could have her offer at certain times. So not a strict schedule, but just encouraging more ounces in a 12 hour period, ya know?

@TJ1979‌ I was thinking going down. Is the nanny trying to keep the house quieter? I am just trying to think of possibilities. Sorry I'm not of much help.

It definitely sounds like she is sleeping way to much during the day. I would ask the nanny to try and stimulate her more. That way she can get back on schedule. Even if it's trying to fed her more often and change her diaper, take her clothes off anything to wake her up.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to slowly move her wake up time, a little at a time and see what happens. She's also getting really good at sitting up in her bumbo chair and doing her tummy time. She's getting really interested and observant of the outside world, especially E. So I'll make sure the nanny is capitalizing on that, and keeping her busy and active during her awake times.
I also forget, even though she's great with the kids, she isn't a mom. She probably hasn't read any of the parenting books, and probably doesn't know about EASY and the 5 S's, and all that stuff (not that P needs the 5 S's, that sweet little doll.) But I should definitely teach her about EASY.
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions and support. I think I got a little overly worried bc I was stressed and sick and tired. I feel better today.
