Is it really good to use on newborns? My DS IS 1 wk old and sometimes he does cry excessively we always resort to chking his diaper or feeding which neither is needed is it safe? I read it's natural so why hast my pedi mentioned it?
All I can say is it is amazing stuff! It's homeopathic so there's no medicine or chemicals in it. I would say ask your pediatrician. I did and he's ok with it.
Its fennel and chamomile. Its an herbal solution that helps little tummies. It also gets rid of hiccups. My LO LOVED the stuff, I mean LOVED it, lol. When she would taste that I had it and was giving it to her in the serienge she would try to suck it like a bottle- even lick her lips when it was gone! She would spit out gas drops.. but this stuff she liked, a lot! I consulted Pedi before giving it to her and he said it was fine, just not to exceed recommended dose on the box. Some of the old gripe had alcohol it in, and that may be why it was pulled from the shelves where you are, however, it is made now- with no alcohol- and that is the kind that is safe. Just look at the ingredients carefully, and get the kind that is holistic in its make up.
My LO settles down within about 1 second of receiving it. My mom told me she used to give it to me too. All of my friends recommended it as well and it is wonderful! Make sure you read the instructions and check and see if yours needs to be refrigerated. My sister said hers needed to be, but mine does not. The dosage on the bottle I have says 1/2 tsp (from the doppler) and not to do more than 6 doses in a day. We do may 3 doses but only do 1/4 tsp so I'm not worried. Check with your pedi though of course. I haven't tried other brands/variations yet. The gripe water is working for us.
Thank you all for your comments! I chked w my pedi n she said ok to use as long as I followed the dosage instructions. She even suggested the specific one to get " colic calm" does not need to be refrigerated
