February 2015 Moms

Head, shoulders, knees & toes (and elbows and fingers)

I'm 13 weeks along and was wondering if anyone else was waking up to new body pain, every day??? First it was my knees, then the balls of my feet, then my toes, then the joints on my fingers of each hand, then one elbow, then the other elbow (as of this morning). Then last night the left side of my throat felt as if there was a ball there, but when I go to touch it, I don't feel anything. Just pain. I'm not even showing yet and I walk like if I'm 9 months pregnant :(
doc said it's normal, so I'll take it, but anyone else going through it? I'm not terribly worried about it, just curious. Thanks :)

  • Nothing quite so ubiquitous as you, but my right hip and knee have been killing me.  They got really bad with my previous pregnancy to the point where I was almost crippled...

Hopefully everything clears up as we get further into 2nd tri... 2nd tri is soooo much easier. :)

  • Well ladies, we are in it together :) thanks for responding! Here's to a better 2nd trimester *clinks imaginary champagne glass*
  • My left hip has been hurting for a couple of weeks now! It's annoying, but I have a feeling it's only going to get worse...!
  • Hips.....yes! They are already expanding! I guess they remember from last time. I have not had any unusual pains but all that could change.

  • Yep im achy all over. Your ligaments expand when you are pregnant and that is what causes this. Such a pain in the ass!

  • Yes, body is sore but I thought it was from work. My main problem has been my stomach. One day bloated and constipated the next having the runs. I know so gross and tmi but I have no idea who this body is anymore.

I've got a spot in my lower back that just KILLS sometimes. Doctor suggested using heat to ease the ache, but it doesn't help that much. @Adrica07, I sure wish we could look forward to these pains easing up, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from here, joint wise. Once the weight gain starts, I'm sure the aches will get worse. Not to be a negative nancy or anything.

Edited for: I tried to find a smiley, but none of them really fit my mood tonight. Oh well.

  • My hips and lower back hurt everyday! My knees only some days. It doesn't matter what I do, I just wake up in pain.
  • I just noticed my joints really hurting at barre class today - knees, elbows and wrists. I haven't experienced pain at all until now.

I have the same thing - my doctor told me it was a tendon that starts with "tri" (not the best listener) and gave me some exercises to do. Sometimes I squeak out loud from the pain and my husband thinks I'm being a teeny bit dramatic.
  • My body is just sore for some reason. I thought it's just the stress I feel due to work. Stomach muscles pain like hell at times. I wake up with a new ache everyday and go to bed with another. DH thinks I m being dramatic but I swear my body hurts!
  • Reading this is helpful. Yesterday my leg muscles felt sore in the morning and I hadn't worked out. Through the day my lower stomach started burning, that's the best description I can think of but probably not entirely accurate. And the tendons near my hip feel achy. It was so hard to get comfortable and sleep last night!

  • I have a feeling you're right :/:(
Last night I lost hours of sleep due to bad left hand pain. Unable to bend fingers or grip anything. I spoke to my OB this morning and he suggested I see my PCP since he doesn't feel this is pregnancy related. Uh-oh..
  • P.s. I think my husband thinks I'm also being dramatic. Men! [-X
  • Our bodies are stretching and other parts get more tender, filled with fluid and hormones
