terrible hip pain

I'm just wondering if anyone is dealing with this same problem and what you moms are doing about it. I know that my body is changing and shifting, but is anyone feeling like moving will cause your hips to dislocate? I can't stay comfortable for more than a couple minutes and I move and my hips pop and crack. Any ideas ladies?! Please help.

Re: terrible hip pain

  •  I am going through the same exact thing and it hurts like crazy.  I've been sleeping with a pillow between my legs and that has seems to help at night and I sit on a pillow at work.  I've also tired sitting in child's pose for a few mins to stretch it out and help my uterus move forward (I have a retroverted uterus)

  • I have hip pain too. My doctor said its normal because of all the stretching your body does. He also said your posture can change during pregnancy which can cause hip pain. I've slept w a pillow between my legs and sometimes a warm bath helps (just watch the temp of the water). That helps a little.

  • Ladies, thank you for the advice. I called and told the nurses line and they told me Tylenol and heat. So thank you all again !! Means a lot to me!
  • I've been seeing a chiropractor once a week to help relieve my hip pain. She stretches out the ligaments and aligns both my hips and mid back. It feels great! It is incredible how much my posture has changed from my baby bump and larger chest! I don't know what I'd do without her.
  • yoga/ stretching helps a lot. I also got one of those pregnancy pillows to sleep with during my last pregnancy and it was a life saver!

  • I have really awful hip pain as well from scoliosis and an atomically short left leg.. I have to say that yoga has pretty much saved me. As well as a heating pad, warm baths, massage. I also see a chiropractor pretty regularly. Hope you get some relief!
  • This happens a lot while I'm sleeping at night. Though, my biggest pain problem right now has been the bottom of my feet. I feel like I've pulled both muscles that form my arch, though in my case I have no arch, and it hurts to walk. I've been soaking my feet every night for the past few days and having my hubby massage them, and it doesn't get any better. I just hope the problem corrects itself soon.

Thank god for your post. I've been feeling this since week 9. It started in my back to over the last 4 weeks my pelvis and hips. I have the popping sound too. Sleeping is extra uncomfortable to shift around. I walk like a little old lady. Last week at doctors appt I told and he said it's just hormones like progesterone and relaxin making my ligaments "softer" in preparation for birth. You are definitely not alone my dear
  • As PP have mentioned, a good chiropractor could make the world of difference.

I also have been suffering from hip pain since I went through my last growth spurt at 16 (I'm 6 feet tall). The popping and cracking has become increasingly consistant now that I'm putting on some weight.

I have found that rolling on a foam roller every night helps stretch and ease pain. It is crazy the sore spots it hits that you didn't even know existed! It is also good for stretching your back and neck.

    Good luck!

  • Have you gone to a chiropractor? At 6 weeks I started seeing one because of pelvic pain and I feel so much better. Having your spine, pelvis, and hips aligned while growing and changing will help a ton with these aches and pains.

  • I've been struggling with this on whichever side I am sleeping on, so I have to keep changing throughout the night. I read that a memory foam mattress topper is a lifesaver because it stops the pressure of the hip grinding into the mattress. I've just ordered one online so hopefully this will do the trick!
  • I don't have bad hip pain, but I get a weird energy in my hips in the evening. I have to move my hips and legs around a lot and then my hips eventually "pop", like popping your knuckles. Has anyone else had this?? It's so strange to me and it drives me crazy!
