Trouble TTC

Since it's been a while...N3TR

GTKY Thread! We have had an influx of new people, so I think this is the perfect day for this. What is your favorite game to play? It can be computer, xbox/ps3/wii, sport, board game, anything! What makes it so special or fun for you?

Re: Since it's been a while...N3TR

  • Favorite game right now is Lego Harry Potter on my 3DS. I wish I got to play it more. For physical activity, I'd say jujutsu, though it's not really a game or a sport.

  • I suck at computer/video games.  No hand/eye coordination or something.  The only thing I can play is Tetris because it only involves a couple of buttons.

I do love Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, and Scrabble though.  I especially love Scrabble because DH isn't that good at it and I beat him all the time.  He beats me at basically everything else though so I'm not a total bitch for saying that.  :)

@buttmonkey34 - I used to love jigsaws but my dogs make it effing impossible to do them anymore.  They are always trying to jump on the table when I'm doing them and eat all my pieces.

  • I am a huge fan of board/card games. Rummikub and Rum 500 are at the top of my list at the moment. Just learned how to play Triploly the other day! I have to say my favorite board game is one I don't even own. Settlers of Catan! Played it on free days in high school and LOVED IT! Wish I had it &/or had someone to play it with... lol Seems like no one has time for board games anymore.

  • I'm team Sims for lyfe. I was obsessed with the 1st one, obsessed with the 2nd and obsessed with the 3rd. I'm looking forward to the 4th one (although terribly upset that they are not adding certain features to it...).

I also have gotten into Skyrim a lot lately. But Zelda:Ocarina of Time will be my all time favorite game forever.

I preordered the Sims 4. I'm so pumped! LOL What features are you referring to?

    Here's my answer:

The Sims 3. I'm fully aware this makes me a major dork, but I love this game. I've been playing it since it came out. It's fun to create new sims and story lines. Plus, it's the only game that can hold my attention for a long period, so on days when I really need a break from life, that's what I play.

I love the sims! I've been playing since the original one and can't wait for the sims 4!

I'm a battlefield 4 junkie and I play on the ps4. Yes, I am that closeted gamer girl haha ;).

ETA: as far as regular/board games go I love catch phrase and cards against humanity- and they're great group party games.

I sure hope so because beer pong it one of my favorites even though I'm way past college age.  I like to play with wine now that I'm a "grown up."  It's classier and gets you drunk faster!

@kmdecoux @Buttmonkey34 I second Apples to Apples!  I love that it's easy (and almost necessary) to play in a big group of people...you really get to know someone's sense of humor playing that game!

If you want to be more involved with your sims' careers instead of just sending them and fast forwarding, ambitions is great. Has some cool ones, too. Late night is alright. I like the town it comes with because it has apartments, but it's not great as a long term city to "live" in because none of the places are very big. I think late night introduced vampires, also. That expansion was lackluster compared to the others. Edit to tag (oops): I was talking to @DarcyHermione‌

  • Aw man...if Sims makes a nerd then I don't want to know what I am! Haha!

My most favorite game EVER is called Eternal Sonata. Everything in the game has a name with a music reference and it has this back story about Frederic Chopin and you are in his dream world. I don't really understand the whole dream part (even after playing it all the way through like 10 times) but it's the greatest thing ever. :-)

  • Wow! I didn't realize there were so many gamers here!

My afternoon is full of the sounds of Titanfall coming from the living room, and a D&D game my DH is hosting.

For video games, my all-time favorite is Dr. Mario. We live about an hour from Funspot ("The Largest Arcade in the World") which we visit at least once a year, and I would sit and play the Dr. Mario machine all day if I could. Recently, I've played Diablo 3, Gone Home (AMAZING indy game), and I'm a sucker for Peggle. We're looking forward to a lot of the Xbox One releases coming this fall!

I also love board games - I actually managed a store that sold exclusively board and card games during and right after college. @lebradford - Pandemic is my favorite!! I also love Forbidden Island (it has very similar mechanics, but way easier to set up and teach). Settlers of Catan is also a go-to for us, and I was addicted to the Ticket to Ride iPad game :)

Me: 27, PCOS. DH: 28, TBD.

  • @AnnaClaire256‌ I also love the word games at showers! I can usually win something!

For board games I love scrabble and clue. I wish we could play clue at home more but since you need at least 3 it's not one we can play just dh and me.

I don't really play any video games on a regular basis. We have a wii, play station, and all the old systems (my h likes them) but I only play on occasion. Usually Mario games when I do though!

I've gotten up to 13 generations before I got bored. I tried to do a generation challenge that I found online with specific career paths, but my game freaked on on generation 9 and I lost my family tree :(.

My brother played Eternal Sonata! I've never met anyone else who did. I'm not good at controlling the characters on console games, so I didn't play, but it seemed like a cool game.

whaaaaaat!!! I've never met anyone else who has either!! We should probably be bffs ;-)

@Ashlee8809 We like Forbidden Island too! There is actually a sequel now called Forbidden Desert. You should check it out! We also enjoy Ticket to Ride, but strangely have never played Settlers of Catan. We really need to check it out because I think we would really like it.
    **siggy warning**  **everyone welcome**

I'm so excited that there are so many gamers on here. I didn't want to be alone in my Sim world :P For those that do play Sims, has any ever completed a 10 generation challenge? I've started a few times, but never finished. I'm hoping 3rd time's a charm ;) Edit: punctuation.
I've only ever made it through 5-6 generations. I eventually get bored and will start a new game. @DarcyHermione‌ - 13 is impressive! At that point, I would think the whole town (or most of it) is related somehow lol.
Sims 3 is funny in the way that they will add families to the town if you aren't producing enough offspring. So actually it was really difficult getting the extended family to produce cousins, etc. I had to go into households and make them woohoo. My game might just be weird though. I know others haven't had that much difficulty with it. I got to the point though where I missed my original family and decided to start over.
I usually build the house so that most of them can stay there until the grim reaper takes them. With the one I just started, I have the matriarch and her (third) husband in a room upstairs, and her two offspring will take the other two adult bedrooms and any of their offspring will share a room with those of the same sex. Five bedroom house, total. I'm only going to allow 2 offspring each for these two, and then subsequent generations will have to move out as needed, but I will keep the oldest of these offspring's families going so there will be 3 generations in the house at any given time.
