Grinders is a must!!! Taco Via (more in the burbs and you will probably be highly disappointed, but it's a local place with some quick and greasy tacos). For fancy- Pier Ponts. For a quick salad: The Mixx

I second Grinders. If you want a good Sunday brunch I would suggest either Cafe Sabastiens or Webster House. For shopping I'd take a stroll around a The Plaza and there is also tons of eating places along the way. One of my favorite dinner spots on The Plaza is Seasons 52 and if you like sushi Kona Grill is good. As mentioned above Jack Stack is always a good choice for BBQ. Enjoy your trip!
Jack Stack is by far the best BBQ! For Mexican my favorite is Jose Peppers. If you like fried chicken you should def. check out Stroud's restaurant, it's family style pan fried chicken and it's delicious! I love Mr. Goodcents subs and pasta, not sure if it's only local to KC but I can't get it here in cincy since I moved! If I think of more I'll add them, I grew up in KC and miss it, don't get to visit often enough!
