I am breastfeeding and I don't want to be on a strict diet, but I want to work on losing the weight. However, I kind of am on a strict diet because I have eliminated dairy to see if it helps with LOs gas issues. I have been dairy free since Monday and have lost 3 lbs already after being stuck at a certain weight for over a week. While I love to see the scale moving, I am worried I am going to lose my supply. I have been tracking calories in my fitness pal to make sure I am getting enough but I'm always a few hundred calories short. Fruits and vegetables don't have a lot of calories and milk is in a lot of foods. So I guess what I'm asking what are some healthy snacks to get me in a good calories range that are dairy free?
Re: Dairy free and weightloss
Almonds, other nuts
Guacamole

I was dairy free with my first. I lost all my pregnancy weight in 2 weeks. Of course I started my pregnancy over weight, so no biggie for me. It's not just that it's in everything it's also the amount of sugar that naturally occurs in dairy.
You've gotten some good suggestions already, but I would suggest some lactation cookies. Many taste good have things that boost your supply and are handy to grab.
@Shiva14 it can effect your supply. Your body no longer prioritizes baby over you. If it feels it needs to horde calories it will dip your supply. That's one of the reasons we tend to gain extra in pregnancy, so our body knows it has a store it can draw on. So if you have some extra weight from before or during pregnancy, it's less of a concern than if you started out tiny and didn't gain much. I ended up finding some premade meals to use for a while. As much as I wanted to be more "healthy" I decided actually eating even if there were some preservatives, etc, was better than not eating much at all.
Try not to stress too much over supply...stressing will make it worse. Kellymom is a great site for all things breastfeeding. There are great support groups on facebook. The one I am part of is called Dairy Queens.

As many mommies have said before, eating lots of nuts, avocados, legumes will work wonders for milk supply. Also including prenatal vitamins, lean protein, protein powder, loads of leafy greens and lots of fluids will help your supply.
I also consumed "mothers milk" which I believed really helped with my supply.
Hope this helps!
